Master Bates Inn
By nprevallet Resident

TYPE: Official Business

SLURL: Hathian

BACKGROUND: I think the fact that this Inn will be used in so many different aspects of roleplay on the sim, that it's almost like a continuous event. There is no shortage of people wanting to trade money for sex, and the sim is filled with people who roleplay abusing drugs. I detail in the area where I talk about how the business will stand out and that goes more into depth about how it'll directly involve the community. Events are definitely something that could be planned too, just off the top of my head while writing this I haven't thought of any specifically. I'm more the type that events will happen as roleplay happens.

The club has their head geared toward events too and we likely could include the Inn in some of that. How will I make employees feel welcome? Every staff member that I will hire will have a job geared toward a major aspect of the business. I'll need someone overseeing drug exchange, I'll need a girl who can look after the other girls, and I'll need a person that can run the administrative side of the business as well as the books. My character will have a direct hand in every single employee that is hired. He will make sure things are running smoothly and will help bring the money through the business to be laundered. He will be overseeing every aspect of the business, so he will have a lot of contact with his staff.

Short-Term Goals
·Begin hiring for the Master Bates Inn
·Establish head management
·Operate the Master Bates Inn as a motel; on the surface (also long-term)

Post Short-Term Goals
·Pick from staff; those trusted enough to oversee specific areas of business conducted via the Master Bates Inn.
·Re-establish a foothold on the flesh market in that area of Hathian. Contingent on prostitute recruitment; this location provides a safe place to conduct this specific piece of business.
·Utilize rooms for sale of illegal goods. Run dirty money through the business and launder the cash to be picked up by an accountant for legitimization.

Long-Term Goals
·Have a steady staff established to operate the Master Bates Inn and all areas of business conducted through the motel.
·Continue to utilize the Master Bates Inn for trade of all sorts of illicit goods and services, and money cleaning.

UNIQUE: Fronts are the bread and butter of any criminal organization, especially those that lean more toward organized crime. Businesses also provide a place of work on paper so criminals don't get nabbed for tax evasion, and it makes them give off the appeal that they are "upstanding" citizens. Most businesses in Hathian in some form or another have a criminal element attached to them, and this will be no different. What will separate my plans from others is the delivery method. I will first start by explaining in small detail what the tentative goals are. After I've established said goals I will detail how certain aspects of the business will function. Let's dive right in.

The Flesh Market - I would assume that there isn't much detail that has to be provided here. The seclusion of the rooms provides the privacy necessary for prostitutes to serve up tricks like flap jacks at an all you can eat breakfast buffet. Factions have run girls out of these rooms for a long time, and with Shane potentially taking over that would only continue. With Shane potentially taking over management he will have the ability to see that the Inn's goals align with his.

Trade of Illicit Goods - Ever thought about taking room service to a whole different level? Let's run through a scenario. Jack sets up a deal with John for a brick of cocaine. An underhanded cash exchange happens that'll look nothing more like payment for a room. The rules of the trade have always been money first, so this shouldn't raise any sort of red flags. Once the money is secure Jill who is hired as "room service" will bring the goods by. Once the deal has been complete all parties part ways and everyone has an alibi. Money nor the drugs at this point are at risk. The concept of this hasn't been fleshed out one hundred percent, but this could be any combination of NPC's and actual players when it comes to "room service".

Money Laundering - Money that is made illegally isn't just used with no regard; unless prison suits you. Cash businesses have been used for years for this criminal activity. Shane and associates would take money made illegally and take it through a process of making the money look worn and would insert it into the business. A shady accountant that Shane did business with in Boston would make an appearance once every week or two to take some of that ill-gotten money and run it through a shell company which effectively would clean it.

EXPERIENCE: I feel like one of my main qualities is how imaginative I am. I am able to see stories, and help develop them with others. The moment I set my sights on the MB Inn, my mind started going a million miles an hour to flesh out how I can make them stand out. I think I've shown that by how fleshed out some of said ideas are that I wrote down above. I've been roleplaying for a lot of years in many different communities and a lot of different factions. I've seen a lot of business and even had a hand in running some in other communities. Given my past experience, I think I would be an effective leader in running a business.

IDEAS: New players that sign up for my business will be approached as anyone else looking for a job at my business. They will be taken through a hiring process that consist of an interview. If I see potential in them par-taking in the criminal side, then I will find a way to engage them in terms of that. Much of what I do isn't necessarily planned in roleplay. The scene/interaction with people in the community will breed how the situation/that player is engaged.

OTHER: Given that this is a motel the re-opening would advertise discounted prices of rooms. Due to this being a re-opening, you won't get business by gouging people for the prices of rooms right when you open the doors. Much of the illegal activity that is already planned will be re-engaged once the motel is off the ground running. Discounts will be offered for the first week, and the rooms will come comped with liquor upon getting a room.

I've also been mulling over the idea of a BBQ event. Tentatively. We will cross that bridge once more thought is put into it.
