Labor Union & Hardware Store

SLURL: Hathian Highway, Hathian

BACKGROUND: The labour union, will stay it's course, and keep moving, in the criminal direction of things. But it could possibly branch out, to cover other directions. So far, we have tried pressuring other business owners, to pay a 'modest sum of money or favours' to have the union look the other way, and not condemn the buildings they inhabit. We received some positive feedback, from the scenes that took place, even if they were limited in number. I plan to expand that story thread, to the businesses that are private, and located outside of Hathian Proper. Regular events, might happen irregularly, depending on the participation and the interest of other people. I have some ideas, cooking in my head. For example, regular strikes, and swarming a local business, with protest signs. Forcefully closing down a business, to 'help persuade' the people in charge to unionise. Perhaps close down roads, to get the drivers angry, in an attempt to bare the way for another business. All of that would of course be attempted, with any and all necessary permissions and OOC talks. How you would make new employees feel included: by trying to include them in as many stories as possible, having them go through a 'tutorial' of a sorts. Have them interact with other businesses/factions/gangs. How your character would fit in as management: My character, at the moment, is one of the managers of the union. She ICly handles paperwork, and is quite aware of it's inner workings. It is only a natural step fro her to take up the mantle (figuratively and literally) of the Lead. She has also been lead of several other sim owned businesses, though they were not in CD.

UNIQUE: For the past year, maybe more, the Union stood up as an umbrella for criminal activities. Both for the Black Mamba group, for the Hathian Ring, and in general our crimes. This shall not change, for the most part. The Union will keep serving as an umbrella, for the Hathain Ring, but it will also expand to provide support for the Baelish Lounge, and couple of other businesses. With any luck, it will stand out from the other businesses, by bridging the legally grey areas, when it comes to employment, and sexual workers. By having, a sort of, mob mentality, and descending upon those who (un)deservingly earn it's ire. Unlike other businesses, we shall employ legal means (as much as that's possible), to solve some of our problems.But mainly, by trying to set up some fun role play, not only for the union, but for all of Hathian, and her inhabitants.

EXPERIENCE: I used to co lead few other sim owned businesses, in various places. I have my own business going, and I think that I am somewhat versed, when it comes to dealing with businesses. I have been both, in middle and upper class management of few other businesses. I've seen the good, the bad and the ugly of a business role play and management. I cannot, in good conscience, say that I am going to be a more qualified business lead, than the next guy. But I am willing to give it my best shot.

IDEAS: I am not really sure how to answer that, considering that most people do not know about the existence of the Union. I will of course, try to offer them a job, if they are a new player on the sim, as I have done to a lot of other new players. Once they start to work, I take it on a case by case basis. I have noticed, that most employees, look at the business, as this 'contraption' that must entertain them. That must make it fun for them, and let them join in on the fun. Allow them to take part in the surrounding RP. I do not like that. In fact, I (we) shall endeavor to encourage people, and new players, to find their own RP. We shall strive to provide, a framework, a basic foundation for RP. But we shall not hold their hand. We would try to include them in as much as possible 'group' activities, such as the aforementioned strikes, and dog-piling on other businesses.

OTHER: ICly, this is a simple change of the person in charge. Nothing much will change. A simple press conference could take place, detailing why the head of the Union is stepping down. Or Alternatively: Host a collaborated event with the Hathian Ring and (Hopefully) bring in some unionised, pleasure workers. A brutal fight in a cage, in which the fighters are given power tools as weapons, and are allowed to deal with each other, however they see fit. While the union workers tends to the needs of the patrons, and provides the interludes, with entertainments of the flesh type. The Union's part in the fight will be to provide the fighters, be it willing or unwilling fighters. Men or women, it shan't matter.
