Hathian Theater

BACKGROUND: I see the Theatre as an underutilized space due to the actual difficulties encountered in RPing film watching as much as anything else. I would like to expand the use of the space by running it as something more of a community cultural and events center to reflect the interests of the community. I dont see this as changing the premise of the Theater, as obviously film nights are also fun to do. Some of the ideas I have for events in this vain include: - Film nights and sing along shows, concerts - Art, photography showcases - The starting up of IC community groups such as improv players, classes, local support groups eg.for addiction, meeting new people, trauma. - Q&A sessions, parties, Lectures and social events. - Opening the space for IC hire to those looking to throw a party for that special occasion. - Establishing the Hathian Players group as part of this to bring theatrical entertainment to the streets of Hathian. With Gidge's background in the entertainment industry, the Theatre would mark an evolutionary step for her. She has the contacts to bring in top class entertainment, the imagination to grow her vision (she'd like to think) and the drive to make it a success. If this does not reflect IC, then more desperate avenues and dodgier schemes are likely. She has failed too much in the last few years by her own thinking to let the ship sink without drowning herself too.

UNIQUE: I dont believe the Theatre needs to stand out from other businesses. What other space is this big and central and set up for events? (IC thinking) I think it needs reanimation and to work in tandem with other businesses. Collaboration is important. Of course Gidge would do her best to make sure the Theatre is seen and rebuilt as the top place in Hathian for your fix. There needs to be a more constant reason to draw people in to this RP environment, otherwise it becomes wasted space.As part of this, I would like to have a billboard of some type on the outside of the building, so when people enter sim they can see it is a business worth visiting regardless of events.

EXPERIENCE: I have some experience in leading sim businesses and I have been RPing in CD for a long time now. I feel I have some understanding of the opportunities which would make this a fun environment to RP in, be it as a visitor or part of Theatre staff. I am a compassionate person behind the keys and try to be helpful where people need it. I think many of us are familiar with that feeling of being on sim and not knowing where to start. Feeling lonely with 25 other lonely dots. Making excuses for people to come together and meet each other is fun! As previously mentioned, I think community is important and this is my primary drive behind applying for this business.

IDEAS: Being so close to the landing area, I would like to have a billboard of some kind on our outside the building, advertising whatever display or marketing reason there is to enter it. I think otherwise the building can look formidable and unwelcoming unless packed out. I think letting new players know what they are looking at is of great help. It definitely helps me in new places. I find being friendly and open is a good first response to new players and I hope to buld up the team at the Theatre to promot more street theatrics to get people involved and tr convince them IC to sign up for a yearly membership etc... New players to the team will be welcomes, shown the ropes and oocly talked with to get an idea for their interests. I see the role as curating the rp space, rather than as some overlord. That is to say, players who choose to work at the Theatre would be given opportunity to use thier own imaginations and pitch ideas, events and such if they choose to. If you work for Hathian Theatre do expect drama. Of the IC kind, of course.

OTHER: An open day or weekend event showing off the Hathian Theatre and trying to rope in members. Members will receive invitations to exclusive events, discounts and gifts throughout the year. I imagine there will be music, local bands, DJs, street artists, some film showings across this time and 'wow' displays as well as sign up sheets for classes (to get an ooc feel for interest and work out which of these to try out first.) Hopefully some other businesses could come on board for this event too.
