As a teenager Tessie moved from Germany to Houston with her parents. She ran away from home at the age of 17 because of the permanent fights between mom and dad. She was lucky and met some nice people and finally managed to get a rather good job in an architechture office in Baton Rouge and did very well for some years until her new boss became a bit intrusive and one day she broke his nose and cheekbone by hitting him with her laptop computer. Twice they say.
After that she just struggled making ends meet, moving from one small flat to even smaller ones. Or more precisely: from cheap ones to even cheaper ones. This is how she finally came to Hathian.
She met a guy named Frankie in New Orleans' French Quarter who accompanied her to Hathian fell in love with her and desperately wanted to help her out. She knew that he didn't have any dough as well and she could have guessed that he was going to do things he'd better not but she was too sluggish to hold him back. Then one day he just disappeared.
She is some kind of smart but due to being either too impulsive (ask her boss) or too phlegmatic (ask Frankie) she sometimes forgets to use her brains.
