Matthew was born in Pomona, California on November 3rd, 1989 in a rather unremarkable house. He grew up with only his mother and their malnourished street-cat, Charlie. Being a singe mom, Matthew's mother had to take on two jobs in order to support her family - and her drinking. Before Matt could get a proper job, he did little 'favors' for his neighbors, friends of the family, and the various 'uncles' his mother introduced to him. The favors varied from going down to the corner market and picking up some fresh meat to sucking off one of his 'uncle's' meat. He never let his mother know where he got the extra cash that helped pay the rent and the occasional can of cat food for Charlie because he was afraid of what she'd do if she knew that her new boyfriend had a thing for her pretty-faced son. He was lucky they never asked for more than that.

Once he was old enough to get a real job, his love for literature shined through and he began working at a small bookstore close to home. Matthew was pretty good in school with his behavior and grades, but he had very few friends he was close to. As the years passed, his mother's drinking escalated to a point where she was bringing home thugs and criminals and no longer cared about the rent or feeding her family. Matt would often sneak out at night only to find himself at the bookstore, wishing for an escape. Then, a few months after his eighteenth birthday, his mother ended up OD'ing on something someone at a club gave her. For some reason, Matthew didn't really morn his mother's death - he saw it as the window of opportunity he'd always wished for. This is when he decided to move to Hathian.

Instead of hurrying off to college right away, Matthew waited until he got used to living in a new city. When he moved, he decided to change his whole attitude about life. He was sick of living quietly, so now he is a loud, outgoing guy who easily makes friends. He still loves to read and have occasional moments to himself, but for the most part, he did a total 180 from who he is today to who he was in Cali.
