Lena Varelia is a 23 year old woman of English/Italian descent. She is a little on the sweet/innocent side, which is probably not all too common in Hathian. Let's see how long before she is corrupted. 😉

Lena's Past:
Lena is a Hathian citizen by birth. She was raised in the suburbs by her two loving and hardworking parents. As a kid, Lena had no idea of all the crime that existed in the city; funny how children are so oblivious to the harsh realities around them. Many would find it odd and rather unlikely that not a single vile experience had ever occurred to Lena during her childhood. However, her parents always feared for her safety. People went missing or were murdered too frequently in Hathian, and so Lena was sheltered.

At the age of twelve, Lena was sent away to a private school far from the city. Her parents had paid a small fortune for their daughter's education in hopes that she would return as a bright and successful young woman capable of achieving great things. They never wanted their daughter to have to live in such a foul environment. They wanted her to go places.

Their dreams were shattered when Lena was suspended from the private school at the age of sixteen due to her, "lack of interest in academics." Her grades had been slipping for the last year. It wasn't that she was stupid, or that she could not focus on the curriculum... The thing with Lena is that she had always lived in a dream world. Even when she had to complete her last two academic years in a public school in Hathian, the violence around her seemed to go unnoticed.

She was never fond of keeping up with the news... Until one night when an officer came knocking at the front door of their small three bedroom home. The dream world that had always protected her suddenly caved in when the officer announced the horrible discovery. Lena was twenty-one when they found her father's maimed body lying in the alley near the pizzeria. Her parents had gone to pick up Italian food for the night, and were attacked while walking back to the car. Mr. Valeria was stabbed multiple times and left to bleed to death in the alley. Mrs. Valeria was nowhere to be found.

Of course, law enforcement declared Mrs. Valeria a suspect to the murder of her husband. It wasn't hard for the public to believe that another wife had turned on their husband, after all... Lena struggled to believe such a horrendous accusation. It wasn't until her mother's bloodied clothes were discovered in a trash bin behind the local convenience store that the police determined possible abduction. It was unclear whether she was still alive or not, but it was not uncommon for attractive women to be taken for human trafficking. If this were the case, it was possible that Lena's mother was still alive somewhere...

Lena's Present:
Lena gave up in believing in the law after losing her parents. It's been over a year since her father was murdered and her mother was taken. Unable to afford the payments, Lena was evicted from the house she had grown up in. She doesn't want to leave Hathian because she believes that one day her mother might find her way back home. She began studying at the local university, and spends a lot of time researching the city's gang history in the university's library. She wonders if the attack on her parents might be gang related.

Out of Character:
I'm new to Second Life and roleplaying virtual characters (I have several years of experience roleplaying on forum-based rpgs on an intermediate level). I'm really excited to roleplay on Second Life. If anyone has any advice, please don't hesitate to send me an IM! I'm also up for brainstorming story ideas if anyone wants to be apart of Lena's story in future roleplay. I'd really like to get in-depth with the story I have going on so far... There's no telling what could happen to Lena during her search for her mom. She might go sticking her nose where she shouldn't...
