AnonymoussaidCD is a five sim wonder of some glorious buildings, in varying states of disrepair. Which three (or however many) buildings really do it for you...either in terms of their pure build or in terms of what they represent? Here are my top three. 3) Purely from a building point of view the Powerstation in Devil's Pocket just behind the meatpacking district and Rader Records is an outstanding creation and - correctly if I'm wrong on this - doesn't nearly get used for RP as much as it should do. It provides a wonderful backdrop to the most popular street in CD and its industrial spires are the very image of this city in many ways. Very true to RL powerstations of that era, a great build Paulo 🙂 I was thinking hard which way around to put (2) and (1) and I'll probably change my mind at some point but for now... 2) The Police Station. Morose, brooding, it frowns down on the main street from its height, a symbol of corruption, oppression, hope (to some), authority. The base of the largest and most powerful gang in CD...with the typical black vehicles parked outside. It IS a good build too but this goes beyond prims; it's the way it dominates that street and proclaims it as 'its turf' whether that be true or not. It's like a modern day castle in the way it straddles the strategic area, and glowers in all directions. And my winner is... 1) ...the Daily Grind. Most of the exterior is fairly ordinary (though well-made), just another boxy run down building....but wait! The genius is in the entrance, the gigantic iron coffee cup that rises to the sky. The glowing letters of DG and the big coffee bean, the cast iron street furniture which has seen better days and which no one bothers to paint anymore. The interior is comforting, a soft green with chill-out areas in what is a very stressed town. It's instantly recognisable, it - as far as I know - is a one off in SL as it was built by Rippen and it's the heart and soul of that street. If the PD represents authority, power and corruption, then the DG represents the everyday person trying to go about his or her mundane "daily grind" in this morally questionable town. It says that no matter how bad your day is, you can usually fix it or at least make it bearable with a cup of coffee and a donut. Those are my three, what are yours? |
