AnonymoussaidOkay, I know this comes up in the OOC chat in world a lot, but never really gets addressed and its started to become a real problem. There are mixed views on it, so I figured this would be the better place to address it. We all know that lag is a huge battle in CD, so much so that there have been sim wide notices and such at times asking that avie rendering costs be lowered as much as possible, unneeded prims, HUDS, and attachments be removed. I've literally done scenes with people that were barefoot because they removed their shoes to lower prim counts to help reduce the lag when the sim gets filled up. With all this, why is it that some of the largest lag creators are being rolled around the streets unneeded. I'm talking about the Firetrucks and other Emergency vehicles. Just earlier, I watched the same truck roll by a handful of times, creating such lag that people had to relog just to type up posts once it was gone. Had there been a fire on the main sim, I could have seen the need for this, and when asked the response was "training". But later on the truck came rolling back and stopped outside a current scene to play "chick patrol" and lagged out the participants once again. I have no problem with training being done for new people to the FDH, but shouldn't they be done on one of the outer sims? This reduces lag on the sim as well is just easier on those rping there. It keeps the training out of major rp and honestly, I could see it being easier on the department members as well given that the training talk won't be loaded with posts from the scenes going on around them and vice versa. What bother's me is when these heavily scripted vehicles come out for the sole purpose of...well nothing other then driving circles around the sim. It lags people and gets annoying when you're constantly fighting the lag to post or relogging. If these people have a license for the sim, great. But what's wrong with using a smaller, less scripted vehicle in the main sim, or even what most do and walk? I've opened this discussion for others to voice their opinions since I know I'm not the only one that has this problem and I'd liked this discussion to remain rational AND helpful, not a blame game or a bitch out. That's just not productive. |
