Jace SchnydersaidAge:40 Eyes:Gray Hair:Black but always buzz cut. Personality:Grim and Brooding. Quick to anger due to depression. Strict and Authoritarian. Physique:Well Muscled Quirk:Hyper vigilant due to undiagnosed PTSD Family:Mother (Deceased), Father(91 in a home) Brother (KIA)
Jace was born into a military family. Being a military brat meant that his family moved around a lot and he was never really settled. Each school he went to, he found himself very much alone. His father was a Marine Lieutenant and a very strict disciplinarian. Jace was thus expected to always followd orders, never answer back and accept the punishments his father would hand out when he failed. With a strict upbringing and stringent adherence to his fathers expectations, he had a dark outlook on those around himself that exhibited a lack of control. From childhood, he had no issues about using his fists to resolve issues or to using his voice to put other straight back in their place. He was straight up mean. Being left alone at school meant that he could focus on his education, in which he excelled and as soon as he was able, he signed up with the military. It was expected by his father and lamented by his mother. His older brother was already in and serving tours in Afghanistan. He applied himself religiously to the military life. Physically he was exceptional, thanks to his father. Mentally, he was very astute and focused and passing through training was a doddle. He was very quickly promoted, rising to become an NCO. His first deployment was to Afghanistan, Helmand Province, where he was actively engaged in patrolling and combat missions against a resurgent Taliban. He killed, he saw friends killed, suffered the burden of the heat and the camel spiders as well as the constant state of alertness due to never really knowing who or where the enemy could be.<span class="ILfuVd" lang="en"><span class="hgKElc"><b> Something changed in him the day he got word that his brother had been killed in action. A large IED had apparently torn his brother to scraps. Revenge became a keyword in his mind. Had had no problem actively targeting wounded combatants when he thought he could get away with it but this started to draw attention. He was investigated for one such execution. Thought the couldnt prove beyond doubt that he had instigated a war crime, they removed him from combat duties. He was shipped home to become a PTI. He tagged along with that for a while, but the depression had affected him. Recruits would be subjected to punishments for the slightest thing, sometimes making people run an assault course multiple times until injury. He was hauled in front of the top brass. He had a mark on his record and was sent for evaulation, where they found that he was not fit mentally for service, being a danger to others around him. He had some councilling but this did nothing for him. He resented the process when in his mind, he was simply making better people, shaping them like a swordsmith shaped metal to a fine razors edge. The military disagreed with his perception. He was discharged medically. For a while, he was rudderless, drink and depression made him nasty. He was a hermit without purpose, hating a crime laden society with a lack of discipline, where crime had no consequence, where people lacked purpose and direction. They lacked correction. Correction!Of course!.... He had purpose again. He cleaned himself up and applied to the prison service. Here, he would make a difference not just for himself, but anyone who fell into his clutches. |
