It's a long bus ride from California to Louisiana. It's an even longer boat trip from Southeast China to California. It's an even longer trip when you factor in that you're on the run from a wealthy, powerful and abusive partner, and could be caught at any second.

But, despite all odds- Izzy made it all the way to Hathian untraced. With nothing to her name but her freedom, she seeks to start a new life in the city. So far, she's landed a job at the local 'Rader Records' store- Albeit slightly coerced into it.  Though without any sort of understanding of the setting she wound up in- beyond the borrowed bus ticket and low rent, of course... her naive optimism is on a ticking time clock.
