The Vonds

MEMBERS: ColtonVonD Resident, Sadesh Helendale

BACKGROUND: The Vond family was borne of a desire to provide a safe haven for those without familial ties in Hathian. Colton Vond began with one son during a previous marriage. Over time people began to come to him for support, natural inclination to be included as a member of the family led to further adult adoptions to ensure legal as well as emotional ties. Possessing wealth from his work as a governmentally employed agent and his work with HPD gave him the ability to provide a large home for all to co-habitate, as well as care of their personal expenses should the need arise. In all of this, bonds have formed, as any true family would feel. If one is harmed, they can expect to find their family at their back. The Vonds do not pursue violence and prefer to use their strengths to keep the family from danger. They do not attack unprovoked but, will act if they are faced with kidnappings, violence, etc. In this, the focus is on caring for one another and not criminal activity. Many of our family are employed by HPD, upholding the law (Within the ideal of what HPD is) is considered the preferred way of life. Currently, the Vond household is helmed by a traditional structure. Colton as the Patriarch or Father, the male leader and Sadie Vond, Colton's fiance who is considered the Matriarch or Mother, taking on the female role. Naturally, the adopted and assumed family members are considered sons, daughters, sisters and brothers.

UNIQUE: Currently, we do not have plans to hold a business in the city. Colton's government work is a side piece to the roleplay and is not brought into the CD sims if it can be avoided. His work with the HPD is public, and that lends to expansive rp with any players who have need for police intervention, be it criminal or protection. With any member of the HPD, there is the chance for corrupt dealings, in which players can engage with Colton to provide further roleplay. Sadie is a stay at home mom, her focus is the family and leading it while Colton is away at work. Because her focus is the family, she is often called upon to remedy situations the individual members are in, thereby expanding the base of people she knows and adding more facets to the storyline. Players can expect Vond family members to be OOCly encouraging of engaging in roleplay regardless of how they may feel of them ICly. It is important to us that anyone bearing the Vond name be seen as approachable, helpful and always having the mindset that roleplay is the reason why we are here and that we should always help others build on their storylines.

FLAW: With any family, emotion will be the thorn in our side. Colton is not the best father, his methods are not always conducive to a cohesive bond with his children. He can be cold and detached. To counterbalance that effect, he may become overbearing in his effort to right a situation. He can and will make the wrong choice sometimes, and his relationship with the family can become strained. This can lead to family members staying away from the home, placing themselves in danger and leading to further outside rp should anyone choose to engage them. Sadie is still struggling with her former life as a gang member. She is used to structured chaos, people listening when she gives a command. Where Colton is more accepting of personal choice, she is far more strict, as it is how she has learned to make a large group function. This can lead to discord and strife as she learns other ways to deal with her family and take on new skills as a mother. With any family, there will be fights, jealousy, betrayal and a need to be the favorite. Internal struggle is the core issue with any family, it would be an issue in this one as well.

POTENTIAL ENEMY: The Vonds do not have any planned enemies or an agenda toward any particular set of people. Any conflict comes from outsiders harming family members. As the story has gone so far, there are only individuals that have attacked members and provoked the ire of the Vonds. Those people are Tabitha Adair, Sheol and Xander (Xander is not an icly known target.) As roleplay progresses, it can be assured that more people will come for the Vonds and enemies will be made. However, it is important to note that as a family, they are not openly hostile to anyone. Any attack is very reactionary in nature.

EXPERIENCE:Personal qualities: Patient, flexible, willing to adapt to other player's stories and integrate them into my own; willing to assist in developing characters for more enhanced role-play experience; I always aim for win/win solutions. Communication is important to me. Past Experience: I've been roleplaying since 2008 in SL, and prior to that in other forums, so I bring experience and understanding of fair role-play and good writing skills. The last 1.5 years I've been integrated in CD rp, and risen through the ranks in HPD over that time, showing dedication and a constant presence in the sim. My character's family has extended since that time with active players, in which some people-skills have had to be used to make sure all are getting along to an extent, and working toward a streamlined group rp. I try not to dictate anyone's rp just because they are related, but it is something I keep vigilant watch on, and as mentioned above, find ways to integrate each other to sustain stories and develop characters.

IDEAS:Since the Vonds are primarily a family (whereby everyone consents to a legal adoption of some kind, that can be annulled on mutual consent as well) the idea is not to go actively recruiting people, it's simply about establishing relationships in stories and if the circumstance of the character points toward 'moving in' or creating themselves a position in the family, then the subject of legal adoption would be considered to identify them as a legitimate Vond member. We are all open and encouraging to new players and as we are a band of seasoned roleplayers, we always aim to make new faces feel welcome to rp with us, answer any ooc questions and help CD grow as a sim.
