The Order of Dae. By jazmin3mynx resident

BACKGROUND: Like all religions, the cult is simply a new branch of traditional faiths, carefully strung together to make up a set of belief systems. Most religious texts serve as guides for doing “good”, offering promises of heaven and hell that serve as a final destination for a person’s soul. It has been seen this way since the dawn of time, but what if the interpretations of these ancient scriptures had been incorrect? What if these teachings were the polar opposite of what they have thus far been thought to be? All religious branches take inspiration from existing religions, the cult being no different. By borrowing teachings from Christianity, Judaism, ancient Greek and Egyptian, and other various religions, some lesser known than others to make up the cult’s belief system. Simply put, the cult was founded by two people seeking spiritual direction and has since blossomed into something far beyond what the founders had originally been searching for in such a short amount of time and already, a small following is starting to form. Kiryu and Dark both have heavy ties to some of the former cults of Hathian’s history and have been spending the last few months exploring various types of spirituality. Recently, they were finally able to string together an ‘absolute’ type of faith, one they are eager to spread to as many people as they possibly can. Ranking in the cult works in a series of three generations; first, second, and third. The first generation members consists of the first/founding members, which will remain very small in numbers. The second generation will then consist of a first long lineup of official members; and the third will be made up of prospects taken into the cult. The cult also dabbles heavily into drugs, often seeking new connections and ties as a means of keeping these drugs rolling in through any means necessary to distribute among their members. They will be eager to aid these suppliers on the streets, intent on making deals and alliances as a means of protecting these interests as they see fit. The cult’s faith itself focuses on worshipping one particular deity, one that goes by many names, the most common being Abaddon, Apollyon, Anubis, and/or Osiris. Where most traditional religions encourage goodness in pursuit of heaven, the cult focuses more towards chaos and destruction, worshipping a deity in charge of the underworld. They consider Sheol to the true afterlife, regardless of a soul’s “purity”. As a means of appeasing this God, the cult promotes chaos and destruction, as the Hebrew word “Abaddon” literally translates to “destruction”. They seek this “hell” or underworld, not as something to be feared, but as something to look forward to as it is considered the final destination following death for all. Other elements that will be tied into the religious aspect of the cult’s workings is working of Theistic Satanism, the occult, and various wiccan practices that tie in with black magic, a lot of which are promoted through drug abuse and a lot of manipulation, a common occurrence in most of the cult’s practices. They will operate under their own “religious texts”, which members will be encouraged to read and follow carefully as a means of keeping their faith strong and further pleasing their God. And finally, by using extensive influence, propaganda, manipulation and fear mongering, the leaders will primarily aim to entice as many as they can to join their ranks, following heavily in the belief that they will gain both divine intervention and forgiveness for any/all of their wrongdoings and sins and ultimately be rewarded in the afterlife. Simply put, the cult was founded by two people seeking major spiritual direction in life once they found themselves to be lost, uncertain in which direction to go with their beliefs beyond what they’d been taught of demons. The founding members had both been members of the Devouring, as well as linked to former members of The Murder, giving them heavy ties into the more major cults of Hathian’s history. As Dark and Kiryu both set to explore a vast amount of different religious exploration, the two had finally managed to string together a tangible type of “faith”, one they now want to spread to as many people as they can possibly manage. Due to their affiliations with former Crows, as well as personal obsessions with birds and “freedom”, often times the founders notably refer to people simply as “birds”. Ranking works in a series of three generations. First generation members would be quite literally the first members, or the founding members, which will be very small in numbers. Second generation will be the first long lineup of official members and third generation will consist of any prospects taken into the cult. They are keen to protect those who encourage the sale of drugs within the town as they are heavily reliant on them to both ingest and often drug others with to enforce their “faith”. Those who are purely associates or linked to the cult less directly will have the ability to aid the cult without having to be worshippers of the actual religion. Strays, outcasts, and former gang and cult members will all be the most appealing to the cult’s recruitment, as well as your your average “upstanding” members of society, many of which may be involved with the cult without having to actively practicing its religion. This will keep a wide variety of options open to all walks of life in joining the cult, though ultimately, converting even the “norms” will be the primary goal. They believe that their religion is the “one true religion” in comparison to other traditional religions, something that is frequently quoted and dictated by their leaders and instilled among members to do the same. The cult itself derives off of several traditional religions, all of which held traits that were pieced together to fit the leaders’ agendas. These religions are primarily Christianity, Hebrewism, Egyptian, Aztec, Greek, and theistic satanism, though other religions loosely blend into their beliefs as well. Ultimately, they worship a number of deities scattered throughout several religions, all of which have one thing in common — death, or overseers of the land of the dead. However their worship is focused mainly on one God - Abaddon. The cult also encourages the members to read and study their texts, using extensive influence, propaganda, manipulation and fear mongering to entice members to join their ranks with the belief that they will gain divine intervention and forgiveness for any/all of their wrongdoings and sins. The cult is involved various practices, such as black magic, voodoo, the dark arts, occult rituals, blood sacrifices, etc.
UNIQUE: The Vudu Spice Shop would likely be the most fitting for the front of the faction. Members and citizens alike would gain a hefty amount of information on the cult’s religion, not to mention heavy interactions with the members and leaders who would regularly be going out of their way to spread their gospel to relatively anyone capable of listening while also trying to brainwash people into joining their faith.
FLAW: Drug abuse would happen to be the biggest. Utilizing drugs to keep members in strong “faith” would likely lead to a massive amount of dependency among those involved. These drugs would also aid in the brainwashing that would be required to pull people toward the cult and their beliefs, ultimately leading to negative effects that come with addiction.
POTENTIAL ENEMY: We would definitely try to work with the Revenants as Kiryu would still have close ties with their leader, who happens to also be the mother of his children. We would also involve our own businesses with the faction, both the MB Inn and the Vudu Spice shop to aid in our stories as much as we possibly can, hopefully using them to keep the community involved as much as we possibly can.
EXPERIENCE:Both of us have had extensive experience with not only a cult on sim before but of gangs on the sim in general, we have both helped with the running of them as well as participating in weaving stories whether it be on a sim wide level or just inside the faction itself. Currently Kiryu is running the Master Bates Inn motel & Dark has applied to be able to run the Vudu spice shop. Although these businesses are not necessarily gang related, they are at least an example that we are happy to help & would be suitable for the leadership positions on sim.
IDEAS:With two fairly prominent businesses on sim it would be very easy for not only the founding members but also the cult's followers to meet and interact with new members. Offering to give them jobs to work, places to stay, information and just direction which is the bottom line of the cult is enabling new people to come in and gain a new way. It would also grant them the ability to not have to join the cult but be directed toward people who would be better suited for their RP direction such as affiliated gangs, businesses or even just people we roleplay regularly and possibly just become associates.
OTHER:We would definitely try to work with the Revenants as Kiryu would still have close ties with their leader, who happens to also be the mother of his children. We would also involve our own businesses with the faction, both the MB Inn and the Vudu Spice shop to aid in our stories as much as we possibly can, hopefully using them to keep the community involved as much as we possibly can. |
