Hi there! I am new to the sim, about a month old in SL, but have been RPing for 20-ish years across various mediums and platforms. After spending my first month figuring out the platform and sorting out my avatar, I'm eager to see what the RP scene here is like! So here goes Denise's profile, and I hope to meet y'all in-sim!

Name: Denise Draevus
Age: 21

Background:

Denise grew up in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico as a single child in a solidly middle-class household from an American father and a Puerto Rican mother. Her father never spoke of his family, and as far as Denise could discern, there had been a falling-out of some kind, but her attempts to find out more were met with silence or evasion.

Denise’s mother was deeply religious, and home-schooled her until the advent of drones rendered her father’s job obsolete, forcing him to start over in a new field, and her mother to re-enter the workforce to help pay the bills. This led to 14-year-old Denise being enrolled in a private high school, and finding herself increasingly left to her own devices at home. She used her newfound freedom to explore online, and discovered viewpoints that vastly differed from what she had learned from her mother.

High school was frustrating. Lacking in social experience with people her age, and being something of a late bloomer, she was bullied, and that made her retreat further online. She discovered gaming, and began to lead an alternative life online, where a female gamer got plenty of male attention. As she began to mature physically, she started embracing a performative femininity, and streamed herself playing videogames to garner male attention. Her self-styled makeover also improved her social outcomes in school, but her grades suffered somewhat as she focused less on her studies and more on what socializing her parents’ prohibitions allowed her. She had her first kiss without their knowledge, but little else.

When the time came to apply to college, her grades weren’t good enough for full scholarships, and despite her desire to go abroad to be free from her parents, she had no choice but to attend a local university and continue to live at home. Unsure of what she wanted to do for a living, she picked Creative Writing as a major. Sick and tired of her parents, she decided to apply herself to her studies so that she could one day leave the island, and her parents, behind. It was during this time that she connected with her father’s family through social media, and discovered she had a half-brother, Vincent.

After getting to know Vincent, and discovering they got along swimmingly, she confided in him her conflicts with her parents. He encouraged her to go her own way, and even offered to help her financially, provided she was willing to transfer to Columtreal University. Eager to meet him, and leave her sheltered life behind, she took the plunge.
