Lately I’ve been asked about Tsurai. Who are they? What do they do? How can I get involved with them? I’d love to answer this in depth each and every time someone questions me about us, so instead of giving people a brief snippet of what we have to offer, I thought I’d bring it to the forums so we can reach out and get involved with a wider variety of people. First and foremost, Tsurai is not Sumfai. If you’ve been here long enough to know who and what Sumfai was, they are the total and complete opposite. Sumfai was the promise of family and power—broken individuals were recruited and given the delusion of happiness, a home. Voltiel made it her mission in life to turn that around after Sumfai fell apart. Tsurai is not only the promise of a home, but the promise of family and connections with like-minded people that have been severely damaged. They call themselves the ‘fallen angels’ of Hathian, and have taken that title over time as we’ve been developing.

Tsurai got off to a fairly rocky start. I had the intention to make it a gang in which people manipulated and tied themselves to people from their past, exacting revenge on anyone and everyone through a system called The Web—a belief that EVERYONE is connected. That system still very well exists, but it is less of a predominant thing within Tsurai. Members of Tsurai believe that they are connected, but they also feel that they’ve escaped the web, weaving and manipulating their symbolism and binding threads. With that foundation intact it is still very unclear as to who they are and what they stand for.

Tsurai is akin to the Devouring (but they are NOT a cult!) in that they know of their demons, but cast out their demons and wash themselves of the past rather than embrace their fear of chaos. They aim to unchain themselves and other people from their transgressions, to purify and to hone the very soul of a person once they’ve discovered what makes them tarnished and impure. This was not originally the intent of Tsurai, but after making contact with the gang that dwelled in the church before them, Tsurai has adapted to the chilled atmosphere of what once was. They do not believe themselves to be angels, but they lean on the symbolism of how they’ve fallen and gotten right back up after a devastating plight. They do not lie to themselves and to prove such a thing, the mark they bear is a split tongue. They genuinely believe that once their tongues are split they are free from delusions and harm from what has hurt them in the past. Some members have come into Tsurai without any sort of past, but their tongues are still split for the sake of symbolism and the sake of attaining the skill of verbal control.

Tsurai has been described as the ‘opposite’ of Devouring and that was never our intention as things progressed and developed as they are now. We are our own creation and provide an entirely different spectrum of role-play, though there is no denying that there are some similarities. Tsurai, despite being broken and distraught most of the time, are people that have a handle on reality. They in their entirety have a grip on what they want, and would harm themselves and even entertain the idea that angels and demons are real to spark change in the hopelessness of Hathian.

The best way to get involved with Tsurai is to approach and be openly distraught, outwardly troubled. Tsurai will see the filth inside a person and try to draw it out and destroy it. Their methods of such a thing reflect that of an anti-villain. Change is their ultimate outcome for the people of Hathian, and sometimes to change someone, they must be broken beforehand. Terrible, devastating things are sometimes initiated to provoke such a change in someone—but the outcome isn’t evil. It is ‘good’. The kind of role-play we are offering is very dark, very dismal in comparison to what we initially shot for, but the more we gravitated towards darker role-play, the more fun we’ve been having with it.

If you are a full member of Crack Den, then your story with us can start off slow and build up once we’ve gotten to know your character, or we can whisk you away to the church! The kind of role-play we’re offering citizens could and would include …

-    Kidnapping and holding you until you’ve been ‘purified’.

-    Purification in general, which may or may not be religiously symbolic (and absolutely painful, terrible, mortifying, etc .. )

-    Interrogation on your character’s ties to other people and perhaps getting those people involved in the future.

-    Web-weaving. We want to start long-term and intricate storylines!

-    Ridding of your character’s offenses. Unwanted baby? We’ll cut it out! Raped by some asshole cop? We’ll nail them to a cross for you! Drug addict? We’ll get you clean in the most demeaning, inhumane ways possible. Bottom line, we’ll liberate you from your sins.

And much, much more. The possibilities with where we are now are endless.

If you’ve read all of that and are asking why Tsurai is being defined, it is because we’ve got our footing and finally have a full roster of members ready to initiate group role-play. It took us four months with a lot of changes to get on our feet and we’ve had a lot of private role-play. I would now love for some group and citizen/non-Tsurai player role-play to happen. If you see one of us on the streets, please approach us! Getting involved is as easy as that. If you’re part of another gang? We’d love to have you!
