Anonymoussaidi took forever to do this because i'm a lazy bitch. srysry. also i seriously hope that the subject doesn't turn anyone off to this, rofl... i realise that i'm not funny. ): + On September 16th, 1983, Daria Marisol Ezvalt was born to Emilia and Armando Ezvalt. She was the couple's first child, and the only girl out of four boys after her. Growing up, Daria was very much a tomboy who often defended her younger brothers. Hot-headed and stubborn, she took mostly after her mother, though she still had the protective, caring qualities her father exuded. Just as stubborn as her mother was, Daria spent most of her life fighting with her. They'd never had a good relationship, and as a result, she became very close to her father, who taught her to be strong no matter what. His lesson wasn't all too clear cut to her, however, and to demonstrate her strength to him, she got involved with a street gang and, by the age of 13, had taken her first hit of heroin. She quickly became addicted to the drug, which she realised was a weakness, but she tried to keep it hidden from her family. Her father had known of her gang relations and also of her drug problem as he'd found drug paraphernalia and had paid close attention to the way she began dressing, recognising the colours from the little time he spent on the streets on his way to work. But as Daria was his little girl, he kept it a secret, knowing that his wife was prone to making rash decisions. And he knew that when she found out, which she did eventually, she would most probably hold it against her daughter forever. But even Armando couldn't anticipate just how irrational Emilia reacted the way she did when she found out. She screamed at Daria, telling her that she was a worthless, ugly girl who would never make anything of herself thanks to the life she'd condemned herself to. And with that, she kicked a 14-year-old Daria out of her house and disowned her, telling her that she was no longer a part of the family and that she didn't care whether or not she made it on her own. Armando tried to keep in touch with his daughter, obviously very upset with his wife's decision. But when Emilia found out that he was still associating with Daria, sending her money and speaking to her on the phone, she threatened to leave him and, fearful that she meant what she said, Armando was reluctant, but did as he was told and severed his ties with his daughter. Daria still held her father in high regard, placing all of the blame on her mother, who taught even her young brothers that Daria was to be hated and ignored. The only one who was hesitant to listen to his mother was the oldest of the four brothers, Alejandro, who still contacts her every so often to this day... albeit only to be the bringer of bad news, believing the saying that "no news is good news". The gang became her only family, as she had nothing and no one else. She fell further into drugs as time progressed, and further into the brutal acts of the gang's activities. After overdosing on heroin and nearly dying as recently as one year ago, Daria decided to leave her life behind and packed up and left Puerto Rico, arriving in Hathian with the intent to stay out of trouble and get clean so she could better herself and prove to herself that her mother was wrong about her. And she did just that for quite a while; she'd stayed clean and sober for some time, but as anyone could tell, Hathian is not the best place for a recovering addict to try and stay clean. She began to view it as a personal challenge, and held out for longer than one might expect despite the fact that she felt like her mind was caving in on itself without the drug. Just when she thought she was clear and could start enjoying life again, Daria suffered a terrible relapse that pulled her right back into the tight clutches of addiction. Heavily disappointed in herself and still haunted by her past, Daria has come to believe her mother was right. The cool, confident Daria that people have come to know in Hathian is merely a facade that is slowly slipping off her face. |
