If procrastination was an artform, I'd be the greatest artist of all time. Here's the short version of my background story, the long one for some reason or another is a few pages...

Name: Dannika Ashleigh Dryke
Age: 19
Ethnicity: Australian, speaks with a slight accent.

Personality: Almost anti-social, not much of a speaker, more of an observer. Prefers to keep a low-profile in the sense that she doesn’t want to draw too much attention to herself, but can certainly not be considered a pushover in any way. She is driven by a need to do as she must, rather than what she wants. She views her time in Hathian more as penance than anything else.

Carries: Money, ID Card, Diary, Notebook, Several pens, mobile, several books and contacts.

A story:
Dannika and her sister were born on a cold night in October 1989, she never knew her mother because the woman had died in childbirth. Her father a well-known Australian business man was left to take care of his daughters himself and according to him, he did to the best of his abilities. Though, no one else saw it that way. He provided, but rarely talked to the girls, spent time with them or did anything else a father should do to show that he loved his children.

At first the girls were too young to realize what was going on, so couldn’t really resent him for it. On her eighth birthday things changed for Dannika after she had overheard a phone conversation that her father had. From that point things slowly changed for her and she decided to stop loving him before he could stop loving her, she spent most of her time doing everything in her power to hurt him. To make him feel as miserable as he had made her feel on that night.

By the age of thirteen she was already quite familiar with the authorities, her father however made sure she never got a criminal record, there was nothing the right amount of money couldn’t accomplish. She was out of school more often than not, but somehow managed to pass all of her tests. For him their arguments were the worst, not only because he actually had to spend time talking to her, but because she was the spitting image of her mother and there was that voice in his head that told him he would still have a wife if his daughters weren’t there.

Things changed between them when he almost died, after a long, long talk the air was cleared and they were both able to live peacefully with each other. From that moment Dannika had forced herself to grow up and actually make an effort to please him, he in turn started spending more time with the girls, talking to them and their relationship got better.

She graduated high school at the top of her class and the plan was that she would attend a Australian university, the plan however changed when she got stranded a few miles from Hathian. Dannika and her twin had been on vacation in the US and their car broke down a few miles from Hathian. After a long walk they arrived in the city trying to find a means to get back on the road, but it would be a while before they would able to do so.

Dannika was curious to see if she could make it on her own in a strange city, so she applied to Columtreal University and was accepted, it wasn’t one of her brightest decisions, but it was an opportunity, perhaps even a chance of some sort. The call she had made to her father didn’t go as well as she had hoped it would, but she was allowed to stay. The last thing he wanted was for her to stay anyway and him to lose contact with her.

He agreed to funding her new life, under several conditions, all to which she agreed to. Lucy, her sister travelled back home and Dannika was left alone in Hathian.

I postpone death by living, by suffering, by error, by risking, by giving, by losing. ~Anais Nin
