Anonymoussaid(This is primarily in regard to PD interaction, but I'd like to see some citizen feedback as well, since it ultimately can affect everyone.) Below are proposed areas of focus for the DA's office, all selected with the intention of enhancing roleplay--either by presenting new interactive elements or going more in-depth with existing procedures. I've tried to arrange this so that the PD still gets to have fun with corruption, but the big things will come to our attention. And of course you can create loopholes IC to avoid having to deal with us. That's part of the fun! Please review and reply with constructive feedback. And remember, CD is not a carbon copy of the real world, so I've listed only the most relevant aspects here--the parts that most commonly pertain to our rp. Again, I intend for this to be a productive conversation, not the start of some 500-page debate just for the sake of argument. Thank you! Major Criminal Cases: aggravated assault (i.e. deady weapon), drug trafficking, armed robbery, homicide are submitted to the DA's office for review, to verify they have enough evidence to prosecute. Minor cases (non-deadly assault, drug possession, theft, and so on) to be handled by the PD without need for review. I don't want this to open a huge debate of major vs. minor, and I hope we can exercise common sense and good judgement to determine what goes where. Issuing Subpoenas: Taking statements from civilians and officers regarding the above cases. These could count as testimony, in the instance that we choose to NPC a trial. This gives players the opportunity to participate in significant aspects of the trial procedure without having to endure the lagfest/extended scenes that go with major events like trials Also, those who fail to appear when summoned can be held in contempt, adding another element to the storyline.. Use of Force Reports: This one's a bit of a no-brainer, considering the usual high volume of civilian complaints. The DA's office will request reports for written, formal complaints, so we oocly would not expect PD players to be filling these out unless they are requested during the course of RP. This should not create a lot of additional ooc work for you. Orders of Protection: An announcement previously went out in-world regarding restraining orders. Standard stuff, though I've not had any requests thus far. Would love to see this played out more--just think, more opportunities for beatdowns from the PD! Potentially justified ones, too. Good times. |
