Catherine Jaye "CJ" Farina grew up in a rough situation with a father who abused her physically as well as sexually and a mother who turned a blind eye to it all. It was not that the family was in dire straits or anything.....CJ was adopted as an infant away from her impoverished Cherokee mother and her new parents - the Farina's were in the upper social circles of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Truthfully, CJ never found out why her adopted father did his Dr Jekyll routine...she was too busy trying to cope to wnder about "why".

Do absolute bastards really NEED a reason? A question CJ now has cause to ask herself on those rare moments when she ponders her own forms of "acting out"

CJ grew up with a lot of repressed anger.... When she got to college, she excelled in her studies but her hobbies got progressively darker as time went by. CJ discovered the BDSM community and the far extremes of the fetish lifestyle, which she passionately explored with her lover - the youngest daughter of a reputed mobster chief. Eventually, when her activities came to the attention of her own Father...especially the part where, just to make him furious she'd taken to dancing in a topless bar for walking-around money she didn't really need - he cut her off and disowned her.

CJ had to really work at her education from that point on, and took on a Federal grant program that would oblige her to eventually practice for two years in an area that was critically short of doctors. She graduated with honours from college and medical school, and her apparently normal public life camouflaged her darker activities.

CJ has been practicing medicine for six years now, and in addition to her legal pursuits, she has frequently operated as a "slug yanker" for various criminal organizations. She has participated in the medical murder-for-hire of three persons who ran foul of her old girlfriend's "Family", and provided medical services to various groups practicing extremes forms of Bondage and Sado-Masochism . CJ puts on the public face of an affable and even caring physician, a facade which hides a certain fury that never goes away and a most definite sadistic and manipulative streak. Dr. Farina has a profoundly dark side.

Recently, the federal program which helped fund her medical education has called its marker due, and CJ was uprooted from her role as a shock-trauma surgeon in San Francisco and sent to impoverished and urban-blighted Hathian, to bolster the ranks of the medical profession in the notorious "Crack Den".

What happens next is anyone's guess, but given Dr. Farina's darker tastes.............
