GROUP NAME: The Victory Barbershop

TYPE: Official Business

BACKGROUND: Come spill your dirty secrets – or better yet, someone else’s! The Victory Barbershop’s official business blurb in the business section of the CD website says that at the shop “gossip runs rampant, unearthing secrets and spreading intrigue.” I’d like to really lean into this aspect for the roleplay at the shop going forward. The shop would of course feature slice of life RP, allowing for any who just want to come in and have an IC reason for why their character is sporting a new look. Please come hit us up! The shop will cater to men and women’s styling, including haircuts, dye jobs, and beard grooming. If there’s interest in other aesthetician roleplay around things like getting nails done, eyebrow waxing, eyelash extensions, makeup, etc. we’re also open to offering those services since there aren’t any other official or private businesses providing these services at the moment (that I’m aware of! If I’m wrong that’s alright, we can stick to hair so we don’t pull RP from other places). But I would like the meat and potatoes of RP at the business to revolve around information brokering. Bring your drama to us, we live for it! Since the Victory Barbershop is the only official hair styling/aesthetics-based business in CD we would like to make sure it’s well known that our doors are open to all from every sim. Although of course we will love becoming more involved with the BW community, we also have ideas that we hope will bring in RPers from CU and Hathian proper. We want the barbershop to become a gateway to engaging with RP in BW and other sims, especially if you’re new or simply looking for storylines to engage with! That’s where your lovely barbers come into play. As for my character, I think Clara would IC suit a business like the Victory Barbershop since she's been known to cause trouble - often by way of her big mouth - but also already takes a leadership role at Rock Hard Boba on campus. Plus, she's kind of known for her fun and bright-coloured hair which is suitable for a shop like this. IC Clara has suddenly come into a totally 100% legally obtained excess of cash after some interesting events. She's looking to invest that into a business that will hopefully make that tidy sum grow even more.

UNIQUE: Many businesses in CD have a pretty face they show the public and then a murkier belly hiding underneath. Rather than focusing on drugs, sex, or violence, I would like the barbershop’s niche to be information. After all, knowledge is power! In order for this to work we would need community engagement – please come spill the beans to your barber – and we have ideas to hopefully entice others to come in, which will be described below. Do you have a story line you’re looking for others to join in on? Maybe you heard someone went missing? Or there was a really great fight? Your business or club is recruiting? What’s that? Someone owes someone money? Oh no, you’ve heard that hoe from campus is trying to get with a married man? Yikes! Come chat with us! We’ll spread the word IC. Your barbers aren’t afraid to get involved either – do you want to blackmail someone? Put a hit on them or threaten them? We’ll even pay those who have good info for us! Keep it rolling in! Just remember your barber won’t keep their mouth shut – that gossip might follow you to somewhere else! Might even end up with you getting reported or landing on the front page of the newspaper (only with OOC consent of course).

EXPERIENCE: I've personally roleplayed in multiple sims around Second Life for years, occasionally taking on more mentor or leadership roles. At CU I'm currently the manager for Rock Hard Boba and have enjoyed becoming a more involved member of the community over there. I would love to see what a leadership role in BW would be like and hope to help bring some cross-sim interaction between.

IDEAS: I have a few ideas that I hope will get foot traffic through our door and get storylines rolling for us, and our clients! - Calling all students! Are you fashion-oriented? Are you looking for some extra cash to help pay bills? Maybe you’re just really good with scissors? Come on down to Laveau on the weekends or days you don’t have class. Buses are running! We would like to offer an “apprenticeship” program for CU students who are looking for a fun job or just a way to get involved with the broader community off campus. We would be open to teaching styling classes on campus as well if there’s interest. If this proposal gets approved, Rock Hard Boba has agreed to put up posters and keep a brochure on hand to give out to interested candidates. Plus like, sorority girls, cheerleaders, and all the hot boys on campus totally need a new look every once in a while. Give us juicy campus deetz while we have you in the chair! - We have prepared a “licensing” program if you would like to RP that your character is trying to get some real credentials out of working here (yes, it’ll be a notecard and maybe a degree texture but bear with us lol). This offer is open to CU students, but also your average citizen! Maybe your character is looking for a change in life and wants to pad out their resume. Come get qualified! - Are you hiding from someone? Come get a full makeover with us to change your identity. No questions asked! (That’s a lie) - Bring the fight to us, or we can bring it to you. The business plans on causing problems… For pretty much anyone and everyone. As things get underway and trouble starts brewing we plan on looking for hired muscle. You know, just in case someone decides to come try to rough us up for spilling the beans. Just remember your barber always has scissors within reach. - We would like to either be a help or a hindrance for groups around the sims, depending on the storylines that come through the shop. Oh no, don’t extort your barber for the kind of info you need! That’d be awful.

OTHER: The grand opening event would be called Victory's Secret. A fitting title given the idea for the business, but it becomes even more suiting when you walk in and find all your barbers in their lingerie! The grand opening would offer 50% discounts for anyone coming in to get work done and would be a perfect opportunity to share and hear the goings on in your life and others. I think it'd be great if we could get some catering for the event from another BW business or any business in general. Make it like a community BBQ with good food, good vibes, and all the gossip!
