The Red Herring

BACKGROUND: We would like to run The Red Herring as the coffee shop it is meant to be - a place where people can come to hang out, have a good cup of coffee and a pastry, and tell their stories to each other. With Kylie as the OOC Lead and IC Co-Owner, and Bryant as the IC Manager/IC Co-owner, the Red Herring will act mostly as a coffee and sweets shop; however, an occasional fish fry, gator grub, ice cream social, dancing on the docks, baking classes, date night baking classes, specialty coffee tasters, and tea parties are a few things we visualize. Kylie has even been known to wear a sign board, carrying around a tray of cupcakes before.. so bakery parades can be a thing! We would like to work with other businesses in town to barter goods and work together on various events as well. As lead and manager, we are a couple, and not affiliated with any particular group or gang. The Red Herring could operate as a neutral location where anyone is welcome to come hang out. While our characters are currently neutral and not affiliated with any particular darknesses in town, money talks, loyalty talks, networking talks, so it will be very interesting to watch the Red Herring take its shape as its storyline develops into the dark lore of the town. We would roleplay interviews and training with new employees. We could also send them on errands to barter with other businesses or scout for new goods or gossip, giving them roleplay with other members of the community.

 

UNIQUE: Obviously by the fantastic coffee and treats we carry! Also, this business doesn't act as a front for anything specific, or serve any specific alliances. This makes it easy for our characters to blend in and be hospitable to anyone who walks through our doors. Being near an entrance zone for Backwaters, we feel that our welcoming characters will help to make a great place for people to land. While our characters are neutral, they can be persuaded in one way or another to assist in the darker dealings of the town. The ultimate goal is to provide good roleplay and a place where stories can continue or even begin!

 

EXPERIENCE: We have each run businesses, factions, been story weavers, leads and mentors on alterscape sims in the past on different characters. We have been an IC/OOC couple for four years and have roleplayed together for 10, so we bring an incredible amount of roleplay experience and history with us. We are friendly and OOCly helpful. We have had the pleasure of engaging with multiple people in our past roleplays and greatly enjoy the wide variety of roleplayers we've come across and look forward to engaging in many more stories.

 

IDEAS: We would ICly assist in getting their stories started with engaging roleplay, including interviews, training, errand running, introducing them to other business partners and regular customers. OOCly we would be helpful, answering any questions they may have about the sim or roleplay rules and etiquette.

 

OTHER: What would you do for a grand re-opening event if you were approved? An outdoor party, with samplings of our menu items, good tunes, and dancing on the docks.
