GROUP NAME: Flamingos

TYPE: Official Business

BACKGROUND: I've been a huge fan of Flamingos as an establishment from when I started in Backwaters. My character Mason is a trans masculine character and he has deep ties to the community that Flamingos caters to. As a manager, I'd want to focus on making it more of a hub for all characters who like that environment. Currently it's lacking in having more regulars. I have a wide range of events in mind that could draw in larger crowds that encompass everyone but also some smaller events that could draw in the LGBT community in Lavaeu. And to make it a space where characters from that community can connect and look out for each other while also capitalizing on the seedy underbelly of the business too.

UNIQUE: Laveau and Hathian both have many LGBT+ characters but any places but Flamingos in which they can all connect and convene. I think making it a real focus point and creating that environment for characters and their narrators to blend together and work on community events or make lasting connections and stories is what makes this place different. I have such a passion for the ideas I have in mind for it and I think that charisma for it is what will make it stand out too as it will pay off in the events I come up with.

EXPERIENCE: I've been a manager in my real life and I'm actually really experienced in organising community events in my real life too. And as a member of the LGBT community I've got a strong link to it and know what could work. I'm also very empathetic and understand OOC. I'm great with people and know how to make everyone feel included. I'm open to discussions and I like creating stories for others and allowing people to create them themselves.

IDEAS: I'd start by doing local small events. Handing out flyers. Collaborating with other businesses and trying to create a bigger sim presence. My character is also very friendly and is good at meeting new people, I think the best way to get people to engage with somewhere is by engaging with them individually. Giving them a reason to visit. I've already managed this without running Flamingos officially.

OTHER: I'm considering collaborating with Rusty Brown's Donuts and hosting a club night. Free donuts upon entry. Discounted drinks and access to the red rooms below. It would be community wide, not just for LGBT+ members but for allies too. I'd arrange a DJ and have live music. The best way to get everyone talking is through an event like that in my mind.
