Slim Goodies Diner

BACKGROUND: Slim's Diner is already a pretty well established place in Hathian, but I've noticed it's usually quiet in terms of employees, with only the odd couple here or there RPing whenever I swing by. Ethan has always wanted to run a bistro ever since his younger days at CU where he was placed in charge of a coffee shop on campus, so he has a deep root ICly as to why he wants to be involved with the Diner. He sees Slim's as a stepping stone, somewhere maybe he could put some work into to make a little more presentable and slowly transform into his vision of a bistro. Over time, he might change the decor a little to a more surf-bar style of diner, aiming eventually to maybe recommission it as the 'Surf n' Shake' which has long been his dream as a combination bistro and surf shop! But this is a long time down the road and depending on IC circumstances (or OOC rules as of course this is an official business) it might not pan out. New employees would be welcomed personally at first, I'd have Ethan around a lot to help guide them in the basics of RP or if they are well established characters then at least some guidance on the hows and whys of the diner. Eventually we could have the bus boy/girls be promoted to a full waitress/waiter perhaps and then they could go on to train new staff and have something to aim towards, something like shift supervisor or something along those lines. Regular events would be anything themed around what a diner would be interested in, so holiday events, superbowl and all those things. Maybe a weekday special here and there or a special event to raise money for charities or other things. Loads of opportunities!

UNIQUE: Slims is well known, but Ethan would definitely bring his own Hawaiian flair to things, always ready with a friendly 'aloha' and willing to chat to folks who come in. Hopefully the place could become more of a frequent RP hub with regulars and the sort, along with a decent employee base who keep things running at a decent pace!

EXPERIENCE:I have a long RP history, starting from Play By E-Mails back in the day, moving through Play By Forum and all various permutations, IRC rooms and finally SL. I've run a few RP groups here and there, my own channel on IRC and a military RP faction in Midian on SL. I'm actually employed in the military and I'm pretty on the ball when it comes to communication, patience and organisation.

IDEAS:I'd love to personally guide new RPers through the process of adjusting to Hathian and working at a diner, be that ICly and in OOC chat through IMs. If a new player enters then I'll send them a friendly IM to see how they are finding the sim and to welcome them aboard, see if they need any help! I do this pretty regularly anyway if I spot new players around!

OTHER:Well, I don't think Slims was actually closed! But I think something special where we invite folks to swing by, maybe an offer on 2 for 1 meals for an IC hook on a reason to visit, free drinks all round and even a 50's diner themed costume deal where people need to dress up in period attire, complete with waitresses on skates!
