Master Bates Inn

BACKGROUND: A major goal for this business would be to promote the Revenants' budding human trafficking pursuits, as well as their current ongoing prostitution ring, drug sales, and other various developing criminal activities. However, it will not be limited to gang-only RP! I feel this business is in the opportune location for our roleplay as our members are generally in this area already quite regularly (our turf being just at the bottom of Bourbon Street now). This type of business could create a lot of roleplay among new players joining the community who need a place to stay upon their arrival to town (which is where most of us RP starting out anyway)! I feel that if word gets out about the gang/criminal activity also taking place there, this could generate a good bit of RP with members of the HPD and other criminal groups potentially seeking retaliation against competition, or even just to ‘stir the pot’ a bit! We’re always welcoming other factions to interact with us as well as other criminals. As far as events go, private parties could be hosted through the motel as the business would not be 100% gang focused. Considering this business is located in somewhat the center of town, it offers a lot of room to cater towards things like block parties, themed events, and possible black market auctions/sales. I feel the community could easily become involved in things like this initially, subtly at first until word of mouth gets around and it becomes a bit more common. Any new employees would be guaranteed a good bit of interaction as this would be a main selling point for the Revenants’ business, thus leading us to be around the property quite a bit. Additionally, even if some scenes/stories don’t directly or indirectly involve the drugs/human trafficking aspect of things, there is still the possibility of creating general ties with other characters through regular interactions. My character originally lived in the motel when he’d arrived in Hathian and has spent a lot of time moving in and out of the building throughout the years. It’s a very personal place to him in the sense that it heavily ties in with his ‘start’ in Hathian, as well as a good bit of character development that took place there.

UNIQUE: I believe the motel does a good bit of that on it’s own. Currently, it’s the only motel on sim as far as I’m aware, not to mention a common ‘go to’ when a place to crash is needed. With that in mind, it offers a portal to a lot of different characters to potentially build more in-depth storylines with; either with the gang-related aspect of the business, or with the motel by itself depending on what the other parties are interested in both OOCly and ICly. I’m aware that not everyone is too interested in dark RP all of the time (that has become fairly normal within the community over the years!). With as seedy of a place as the motel is generally portrayed as being, there are several alternatives to ‘bad guy’ interaction. Whereas some characters utilize the motel as a quick hook-up spot and place for handling some sketchy business, many also go with more simplistic approaches, such as using the motel as a brief getaway from their homes (for example, marital problems requiring one party to step out of the household for a night or two). Some use it as a safe haven to get high in. Some utilize the motel for private ‘meetings’, a means of keeping certain conversations as private as possible without having to stray too far out of town. Beyond these things, there are other potential uses for the motel, such as possible break ins and burglaries, or burglaries among guests who simply see something they like and want to ‘check out’ with. There is also the potential for squatters, the homeless breaking into a room for a night to seek shelter from bad weather or the streets in general, or a place to bring that special someone that you somehow managed to convince to leave the bar with you for some alone time. The motel has been utilized in RP for these purposes for years and tossing an active gang member/business owner in the mix is an excellent way to stir up some follow up RP for some of the less than pleasing stays that take place (i.e. a drunk guy trashing the motel room, or a junkie leaving their stash lying around). The rooms have also been at times utilized for kidnaps/tortures, or as a quick place to duck out into whilst on the run. I can guarantee that if you have a good storyline idea in mind that you would like to apply to the motel, I will do my best to see to it that you get some sort of follow up RP for it, either big or small, depending on the scenario. It really just depends on your specific needs. Furthermore, as far as gang-related uses for the motel is concerned, the Revenants may employ their ‘whores’ to be more consistent in activity at this location during certain periods of time, leaving them far more accessible to the general public for hires.

EXPERIENCE:I have been involved in the Crack Den community for almost 5 years now (a period of which was also spent on a separate account, of course) though even still, my Kiryu account is over 3-years-old. I am very familiar with how IC businesses operate, as well as having a full understanding of the sim rules and proper roleplay etiquette. Even still, I am always willing to adapt and learn. Beyond that, I am consistently trying to branch out my RP with as many walks of life as I possibly can; many of which is not always limited to gang-related RP. Actually, a majority of the time, I find myself engaging in things that are completely non-gang related, such as regaining communication with old contacts ICly and interacting with various business employees. I am capable with OOC communication, and keeping up with others in terms of ongoing storylines. I am also always willing to work people into placement in my ongoing stories and encourage them to join in as much as they can and would like. The Revenants and I want to progress stories for everyone, not just our own, even if that means ICly you somewhere away from us!

IDEAS:Utilizing the motel as a first home upon stepping off of the ‘bus’ is an excellent way of giving new players a start in CD. My first scene on Kiryu was literally roleplayed out as him walking up to a random stranger and asking where the closest, cheapest motel was, and being directed to this business. I would like it to remain such a thing for new players as well. That one scene alone kickstarted all of my roleplay, weaving my first storyline and giving me a place to linger or go either during or after the scenes that followed. I feel the same can be applied to new characters as well, should they choose it to be. The place is not lavish or high end, inwardly and outwardly slummy in appearance, keeping the theme of poverty that Hathian has always strived to portray and clearly indicating that the rates will always be cheap, which is something else that would appeal to newcomers arriving with little to no cash on hand while also needing a place to settle in on their first night, as well as the nights that follow. New employees can jumpstart their roleplay with checking people in/out of the motel (Shit. Did you just pocket that rent payment?), work as a maid or housekeeping (Oops, did you just enter the wrong room!?), gain employee discounts on personal motel stays, and have a lot of involvement with business-related events. It could be utilized as a first job for newcomers or a step-down job for the oldies; a place to work as a means of earning your keep to stay there for those with almost no cash on hand upon arriving into town, and forge connections with other players even in the briefest of scenes. New users may face quick interaction, good or bad, with the gang members, various drug addicts often spotted lingering around the place, the average hooker waiting outside for a John, and so much more. They may witness things they never expected, or even better — things they always hoped to!

OTHER:I would consider getting in touch with some fellow business leads and try to arrange a traditional block party of sorts, possibly with the surrounding businesses nearby or perhaps doing a booth setup offering concessions, music, and overall socialization where all would be welcome to partake. These events often stir chaos at some point or another (notoriously so!), often leaving the events as something to remember. This event would bleed into the surrounding street/sidewalk area and with Spring/Summer approaching, the weather would be ideal for it to be held outside. Also during this event, there could possibly be giveaways for ‘free nights’ at the motel via coupons, as well as opportunities to create IC/OOC business ties with the other leads for collaborations in the future.
