GROUP NAME: Hathian Circus

BACKSTORY: With the final demise, for good this time, of Buffy, it was time to come up with a new character. For all my characters I like to take something from pop culture and just put my own spin on it, it’s just what I like. So I started thinking about Jubilee from the X-Men and then started to think where she would come from since there are no mutants in Crack Den, but there are definitely freaks, building the background for my character I decided freaks need a home. And that’s where the idea of The Circus was born….. This small travelling show has been touring the world for the last few decades….though not big and flashy like some of their counterparts….its members are truly talented and unique. Rumours follow the show wherever it lands…sometimes people go missing when it’s in town…and its always presumed they ran away to join the tour. It has the staples of all circus acts, exotic animals, human cannonballs, knife throwing, trapeze artists. It’s a fun day out for all the family! Having toured the world constantly, the family-run circus has now chosen to settle in the one place, Hathian.

UNIQUE: Hathian Circus will provide a home for characters who may not find they fit in anywhere else. Your character is a washed-up-gang-member with a special skill at axe throwing? Sure you could get him a job at the clam, but why not utilise his unique skills where they’ll be appreciated? Hathian Circus aims to give a home to all these wonderful, oddball characters as like all carnivals and circuses, it will be more a family than just a business. I also hope the Circus will be a fun place to take a date, or the kids, and just provide a fun place for people to roleplay. Of course it’s not just going to sit there and look pretty. Once a month or so I’d like to hold an actual show at the Circus, a full blown event that will be advertised, promoted and provide a spectacle for the people of Hathian. The rest of the time there will be regular rp training sessions for Circus members to practice their craft and interact with each other.

EXP:Other than a year out, I’ve been here awhile. I’ve created and ran several groups at CU, been the creative force behind others, and ran my own gang until it blew up around a couple of messed up scenes. Where there have been mistakes, I like to think I’ve learned from them, though the most important lesson of all was not to take any of this too seriously.

IDEAS:Not only will Hathian Circus provide a unique background for my, and I hope other characters, the main aim is always to create interesting, fascinating, gripping roleplay. Hathian Circus will be able to provide roleplay to many different areas of CD; based on my plot at Columtreal it will provide a different mix of characters for that sim. It could provide roleplay on the medical front for many different injuries other than the usual stab wounds “help I need a doctor, a tiger’s eating my leg!), it will provide roleplay for the HPD as members of a crcus will always be looked upon with suspicious and it could well be the first port of call when someone goes missing, and the carnies, being who they are, will have a natural distrust of the cops. It will provide RP for the criminal world as a place out of the way to do deals, and again, the carnies themselves are likely to get involved in some not so legal affairs; pick-pocketing, con-artistry, prostitution, illegal gambling,underground animal and people fights, all these sort of things are possible at the circus.

OTHER:Whilst the original concept was just as a background for my character Jubilation Lee, it has evolved into something that I think is unique and could provide some really different roleplay experiences for those who would like to get involved, and so I’d like with your support – to open up this roleplay to the community. I’m sure we’ll have fun.
