DATE: 01/18/14

PROPOSAL BY: LanceLantash Resident

GROUP NAME: Comiquities

TYPE:

SLURL:

BACKGROUND: Characterwise, Lance is still a student at CU. He's looking for a way to get past his current problems, and generally that means immersing himself into work. He's a geek, so it lends toward managing a shop about geeky things. For regular events, i intend to have monthly specials as well as event-type specials. As in, certain days of the week, wear the costume of your favorite character and get one back issue for free. One thing I did at the Howling at the Moon Gym that many people liked was I had employees going about town advertising the place. They'd hand out flyers, talk about the specials and the opportunities at the place. one even went as far as to dress up and dance around to get attention and give out flyers. I'd like to do something like that for the employees, such as having it be part of their job to go around town and advertise the place or to talk up the business or any events that are scheduled.

UNIQUE: The only business similar to the comic shop is the pawn shop, so standing out won't be difficult. However, with the cosplay aspect, that will definitely help it stand out in the core CD businesses. Theme block parties could also work with the new vudu shop nearby. I could try getting the Gein, Pizza place, and other businesses in on a theme block party where we maybe have a Marvel day with booths themed for marvel characters based on movie releases, stuff like that.

EXPERIENCE:I have two main qualities that i feel fully explain who I am as a person. Patience and adaptability. I don't get hung up on something not working. If something doesn't work, i'll adapt and try new things. And when i get aggravated to annoyed, i'm patient enough to handle the situation without letting that come to fore and creating unwanted drama. In CD, I've ran several groups that have seen varying success, mostly because of the niche interests of the group. The Columtreal University Paranormal Society was an unqualified hit that many people enjoyed and saw a lot of interest through the Observer. I also currently run the only Frat at CU, Delta Rho Pi. For over a year, i also ran a private business out of Black Bottom and vodou, the Howling at the Moon Fitness Center, that saw varying degrees of interest throughout the year. I also ran the DE Fire Department as chief for 6 months before returning full time to CD. And that's just recent experience. I've ran guilds and supergroups in several MMOs, i manage an industrial shop IRL, and this has nothing to do with the question but I make a foodgasmic risotto.

IDEAS:I will do my best to get in touch with all new people who join the business to ensure they get good introductory RP and solid RP throughout their interest. I will try to bring new experiences to them through every RP encounter as well as show them what all CD has to offer.

OTHER:The obvious thing to do would be a cosplay event. but really, i'd love to just see a block party in the way of a rave-type situation. Right behind Comiquities and spilling into the street, food from vendors offered and drinks from Val's and Lou's. Maybe even some clothed strippers dancing (to allow for the youth RP in the event, no nudity). Just an overall blast of a party to ring in the new year of Comiquities.
