24 Hour Pawn

BACKGROUND: By nature, Pawn Shops are typically known to be shady businesses; something which I've been hoping to expand more upon as time goes on. There are various things that can be purchased at the shop whenever anyone stops in, outside of the second hand goods that fill the shelves. Drugs, information, odd jobs. You name it. I've even bounced the idea off a few people to have employees grab ski masks and go out robbing people and use that to stock the stores shelves. Of course with all of these criminals dealings though, the front does need to be maintained. My character is always keeping a close eye on all paperwork and business dealings to ensure nothing is blatantly obvious about what goes on behind the scenes. At the moment, I'm trying to organize something of a fundraising event as well -- with a little twist thrown in to stir things up. Offered at the Pawn Shop are also employee incentives in-character for people to enjoy, and give things a sense of realism for those who want it. Sometimes, Shaun even forces people to work for him if they make a mess..grab a mop!

 

UNIQUE: The shop is already a one of a kind business. Everywhere else, we have restaurants, bars, and service shops. This is the only place people can really come to buy AND sell all kinds of merchandise (and firearms). Though to add a bit of flavor to the business, I've introduced offering cash loans to the lovely citizens of the city, in addition to some of the shady dealings listed in the paragraph above.

 

EXPERIENCE:For over half a year now, I've been the IC manager of the Pawn Shop and nearly every time I'm there, it is always bustling with activity and roleplay. I believe the reasoning for this would be that over the years I've been a part of the community, I've learned to be all-inclusive with my scenes. No matter who comes up to the shop, I'll give them the same roleplay I give everyone else while..at least TRYING to be original with the scene! Every single scene in the shop is aimed to end with far more than a character having simply come in to buy/sell something and then leave

 

IDEAS:When I see someone new (to the sim or shop) I generally try to shoot them a message and invite them over for a scene sometime, or answer any questions they might have..maybe even give them the opportunity to take up a job at the Pawn Shop.

 

OTHER:A traditional block party would is my first go-to; likely centered around having a simple cookout on the street. Or since the Pawn is the only place in town for citizens to get guns, we could even have ourselves a gun show.
