geoffrey welderssaidI've got a long sorted, twisted, winding history with these streets of Hathian. I've walked these long roads before as a hard nosed reporter, a somewhat ineffective leader of higher education, a less than stellar lieutenant detective, and now-well, I guess you can say I'm just a drifter. I've been making some rounds, flying in and out of whatever's around. There's a lot more here than I remember. Lou's is pretty much the same, just as I left it. Surprised BeBe during her shift at the bar there. Was pretty good catching up on old times. There's a lot of old faces here, who I've heard have only recently returned. Hathian's like a TV soap opera with seasons that come in and go out. There's always some sort of drama unfolding. With a prestigious cast of characters returning, I'm hoping this isn't the season finale. They always do that when a show's about to close. I've also been getting around to places I rarely visited before. I went to the Twister-the famed old Titty Twister. Man, has it changed! I remember long ago when it had these braziers out front that shot giant flames straight up to the sky! Such a long time ago. Well, the fire's died down, but the warmth is still there. The uhh-lady "performers" are pretty welcoming in lots of ways. That's just how I remember them. If their charm wasn't totally lost on me, I'd totally hit them all up. A man's got needs, and fortunately there's a place I can go for that. The XXX had quite a treasure trove of goodies! Didn't think they'd carry everything I was looking for, but-there it was. Thought I saw some old merchandise from the Backdoor from years back-now, there's a trip down memory lane. Anyway, had a nice blunt chat with the worker there and picked up quite a load for myself. If all things go as planned, I'll be sharing "my load" with some of those tricks off the street. Already rolling in the contact numbers! Speaking of whores, Hathian's picked up some campaign for city council. It's got everything: new faces, old faces, wild accusations, slander, mudslinging, corruption, and prostitutes galore! This event could be a treasure trove of content, if I was writing for the paper right now. Picked up an issue of the Observer recently. Can't say I'm real happy with what I've seen. Who the fuck ruined my baby? I founded this thing from the bottom up on taking shots at everyone-no holds barred! It's gotten to be unfortunately one-sided and droll. There's not even a single "vagina dentata" phrase in any of these stories. These pages are a little more white than yellow-it's a damn shame. If I wasn't always so hopped up on booze and cigarettes, I'd probably shed a tear. Fortunately, I've got all these vices for my distraction. A man's got to have something to keep him from getting all weepy and idle. I'm going to get in the writing game again, for sure. Got something lined up with 'H'zine already. I've just got to land an interview with the notorious BBP; criminal mastermind, matriarchal leader, spurned lover who's making a victorious return. DON'T CALL IT A COME BACK! Writing for some rag's not going to be enough. I've got to get back into the Observer and add some pulp to it. The hard hitting journalist is back, baby! We're not going to pull any punches any time soon. |
