Spending her life traveling across the states with her mother and the rest of her Romani family, she was always a restless soul. Never content to stand still, she enjoyed the constant pick up and go. The good thing about being within a large Romani community, she never had to worry about making new friends when they moved. Her friends came with her. It wasn't until her mother's mysterious disappearance when she was just 16 years old that she decided she didn't trust her "family". She was told her mother "ran off" abandoned her and their family for a gadje. Not believing the story behind her mother's disappearance, Alei fled, leaving everything and everyone she knew behind her. Always the nomad, Alei stayed true to her Romani roots for several years, surviving on her own by putting her pick-pocketing skills, and charming ways to work. Now at 20 she finds herself in Hathian, tired of running, tired of having no family, and no friends. She's more than ready to make a home for herself in Hathian. She even enrolled at the University, and took up a legit job as a part time barista at the Daily Grind, but don't think her pick-pocketing days are behind her. Tourists are her favorite targets, but locals suffice during the off season. She's built up a tough exterior, and has been told on more than one occasion she can be a little too blunt, and even a bit harsh; something she has slowly begun to take under consideration when interacting with new people.
((OOC: There is a lot more to this story, but that's the basic foundation. To find out all the details, find me so we can play out a scene, or IM me. I'm always up for something. Don't be shy.))
