As much as she hated to admit it, maybe her father was right. She takes another sip of her shitty coffee and gags. Nasty shit, she'd go on about it if she had the time. Funny thing about her life, she never had enough of it and here she had come, to the one place where she would have even less time. What had brought her here was her mother, like most swept away and forgotten about in the tides of time and the broken bodies left behind by Katrina. Her eyes lingered on the small graveyard behind the bus stop before she jumps as the bus comes to a halt, blowing up even hotter air than the sticky heat around them.

"Last bus to Hathian." The driver says to her. Tessa tosses her coffee and cig into the broken trash can and climbs in, pays the fare and sits down, watching as she descends further into the place that somehow held her mother's bones and her life in it.
