The darkness came quickly for Jin Kohime, Aka “The Worm. Death was for sure this time at the hands of the self-proclaimed Slayer of Hathian, Buffy. Death wasn’t something unusual for Jin, he had died before. He knew this because the Rejects had constantly drilled it into his head. This man, he wasn’t to be Jin anymore. That man was buried in the Hathian cemetery. Was even shown his own grave as the brainwashing took hold from the Rejects. Many months he stalked the town, doing whatever he could in his new persona. Until a torture of a rival gang member, a girl named Kairi went totally wrong. She wasn’t supposed to die, but unlike Jin, she wasn’t that lucky. She bled out before the paramedics could find them. Of course Piper probably didn’t care that she died, but Jin did…what was left of him inside the worm that is. And like anyone would expect, the gang that Kairi was part of wanted revenge.
The Worm thought it was done and over after some time, that was until Buffy and another Doll by the name of Aizzel cornered him getting a tattoo. Unafraid of the death that was surely going to come, he faced it like anything else. With a blank face, he was led by knife to where Buffy would interrogate him with Aizzel until she had what she wanted, several times Jin surfaced, not wanting to die, and then the Worm would take control. Jin knew however, his life as a reject is permanent. There’s no going back to the old life. Even if he got away from the Rejects and tried to turn things around, the town would still see him as a murderer and a reject. Thus, the name was fitting. So when Buffy drilled the stake into his chest, Jin saw for the first time in so long the way out. He embraced it, muttering thank you as his eyes closed and the world swam around him one last time. ….. He heard his mother’s speaking to him and even though he saw Sun again, his true love as a teenager. The darkness closed…
His eyes snap open the next day and anger washes over him right off the bat. He spots Sun looking down on him, he weakly reaches for her. She thinks he’s reaching for her out of love, but it was the Worm and he was trying to choke her, very weakly at that. For sure death had come but here he was, alive and in the hospital just a day later. He was furious, all the voices he heard in his sleep as he thought he was dying, was most likely voices around his bed. Once again, confused he didn’t understand why? What’s his purpose? To continue to suffer or make others suffer. Yes…that’s it…others needed to know his pain. Others really needed to know what it’s like to be rejected. They needed to taste the life of despair. Of not being able to show your face in public without someone showing pity or flinching.

Or was he alive to turn it all around? Was there hope? Sun talked to him, but eventually left and then the drugs took over. His mother was there as was Doctor Gavilan, whom both talked about deprogramming him, making him the boy he used to be. But he knew, there was no going back. Detox came even harder in the hospital. Cold sweats and pains and cramps that he wasn’t ready for; at the end he was weak and once again wishing for death; then he wakes up once more with no sweats, no pains. He knew what he needed to do. He was alive for a reason and some things he just had to accept. He is Jin Kohime…but he is also the Worm. And that’s when he started unplugging the monitors and slipped out of the hospital and into the morning once again, heading for Wills.

There ain't no grave can hold my body down
There ain't no grave can hold my body down
When I hear that trumpet sound I'm gonna rise right out of the ground
Ain't no grave can hold my body down
