I'd like to introduce a new communication system I've put together... it's still in the experimental phase, but you might have run into it already.

What is it?

I call it unotices (micro notification). What it basically does is pull content from several sources, including twitter, and posts the last 3 days worth OR last 5 entries to those who exit the Hostel and onto the street. The motivation behind this is simple; we needed a tool to augment group notices, which for the most part, are useless to large groups such as ours. Personally, unless I am online at the time, I'll never receive them. I've also designed it in such a way where we can support RP managers to post unotices in the future and possibly spin off to have a more robust IC use of this (like our own virtual "twitter" on the streets).

For now, I'm keeping it simple to provide:

1) campus/city-wide IC events (advisories by local authorities, major news articles via Observer, etc.)
2) critical OOC announcements
3) promote important news articles

How you can participate

It also opens up the ability for players to get the word out on events, major stories, or IC promotion of sorts via the Hathian Observer (our online newspaper). Anyone can sign up to write for the newspaper; if the piece is really creative or something worth noting at a city-wide level, in addition to being published to the newspaper online, it will also be pushed into the unotice system. Contact Observer editor, Perina McGinnis, if you're interested in your character employed or freelancing for the paper. Additionally, you can RP out putting out IC ads through the newspaper group as well -- their new front will be setup in the new D8.

Mobile/Twitter: If you'd like, you can get these notifications straight to your RL cell as "breaking news" (via twitter) -- simply text "Follow CrackDen" to 40404 if you're in the US. I'm sure other countries, including UK, are supported by Twitter ... just follow our "CrackDen" account there.

Remember, "you may have heard..."
It's up to you if and how your character heard that bit of news on the streets.
