The Slab Butchery

By: Chasity Dawes
Type: Official business - Butchery

BACKGROUND: I would like to continue taking this business down a darker road. Corpse disposal or even storage for the right fee is something that I've had a bit of experience with so far and I'd like to continue with that. Nothing advertised of course, but an if you go down the right alleys you hear rumors thing. The shop itself could also potentially serve some of the meat that's a byproduct of this process to unwary customers or even at certain events. The Slab could also act as a delivery point for illegal goods having some items that wouldn't necessarily be approved of by the HPD brought in with their meat if contacts are made with some of the criminal groups around town. Roleplaying out developing business relationships with various restaurants, business, and groups in the city could be an interesting process. The slab could also be a source of exotic meats offering that service to other businesses allowing that establishment to have a specialty on order for a limited time. Like an Easter special of lamb or rabbit or Blood pudding round Christmas time. There could also be the possibility of contamination via people either sneaking in and doing things to certain shipments or people paying very very large amounts to have shipments contaminated. Like If there was an event the slab was supplying that was for a particular candidate or cause and someone wanted to give them a bad name, or if they wanted to drive business away from a particular restaurant etc they could find ways to dose or corrupt the meat. Chasity would likely attempt to run too tight of a ship for casual contamination to happen though it is always a possibility. I'd also like to use the shop to supply events. Sending people to stand at a grill or at the very least to deliver the meat and other deli style goods gets the employees of the shop additional opportunities for RP. Mardi Gras would be a prime example of this. Having a slab booth set up along the parade route serving various street food style cuts of meat, sausage on a bun, hamburgers, steak sandwiches. etc. Employees would be included via delegation and fostering a sense of belonging to a larger whole. Requests could filter in through the more trusted employees while others could be used to make IC deliveries or other similar tasks. Having a bit of separation between new employees and more trusted employees who could be used to perform some of the more criminal activities would be necessary however, while at the same time making new employees feel like they are a valued addition. Grooming the more vulnerable ones and earning/testing the loyalty of the ones that already lean towards the criminal. There would also be those employees who would likely never know the criminal side of the business instead staying purely at the front as a friendly face. My character would fit in as management because she has absolutely no problem with dismembering and butchering a body and this isn't the first time that she's worked as a butcher and she's been with the shop for a few months now. She has no problem delegating and including others and is not currently a member of a gang so she's free to work with who she chooses.

UNIQUE: I will make this business stand out by it's relationship with the other businesses and groups around town. Given the nature of the business in that it could sell meat on a person to person basis, or supply a limited quantity of exotic or special goods it would try to maintain a decent working relationship with the other establishments around town and given the proposed corpse disposal and contamination possibilities perhaps some of the gangs as well.

EXPERIENCE: I have quite a bit of free time, and oocly I'm quite friendly and approachable. I'm willing to work with others to provide the best roleplay experience possible. I'm relatively new to Crackden but I have been involved in Second Life Roleplay for about ten years now and in that time have led and helped lead various factions and businesses. And have experience generating roleplay and settling minor disputes.

IDEAS: Hopefully we can engage new players by getting a more active presence on the sim and offering an engaging opportunity for employment. As for those who sign up for the business, Chasity would attempt to get to know them and encourage interaction between her employees outside of the establishment if possible. Though she would also require that all factional grudges are dropped within the boundaries of the shop. The process of vetting who is allowed to engage in the shadier activities that take place in the back would also be part of this.

OTHER: I think that it's been a bit too soon since the last grand reopening for a huge event. But we could certainly do an under new management sort of thing. A sale in the shop as well as gift baskets with jerky, meat, and other deli items sent to various businesses around town. Could also speak with one of the bars about having a raffle for coupons and gift baskets from the slab as a method of promotion.
