I'd like to start out with saying I love the kids rp around the Den, a thing that's only possible at this roleplay sim. And surely, there has been put a lot of work on it to keep things going and keep it fun for everyone. I know there are some changes coming to the kids / seaside rp but it'd like to add my thoughts to that:
Hathian-- 90% of the kids / teen rp takes place there, even to a point that there are more teens around then adult chars. This is good for the kid rp, but far from good for the adult rp. An adult char tp's in, spots nothing but teens and leaves to another Urban sim. This is loosing CD in general, rp'ers.
Realism -- A topic that has been discussed many times before but I like to bring it up again. A 13 year old, IS scared for a guy who points a gun at your head. Even if you had karate lessons and grew up in the ghetto. You can't win everything and yes.. you and your char know fear (or should know). This is coming to a point where people stay away from CD simply cause they don't want to deal with this.
I'm fully aware of the fact, however, that especially new rp'ers need some time to figure out their char. Nobody's perfect.. but it's one thing everyone with a kids avi should work in - trying to get their char as realistic as possible.
Seaside -- In addition to the above comments, I think.. we should go back to the basics till most of the problems are solved. Kids and teen rp only happening around seaside and maybe D8. I'm aware of family situations and that's something that needs more thought in it. But I do think, it's time, to use the sim for what's it meant for. One of the things I hear when Im around SeaSide and someone tp's in is: where are all the kids? I have to reply, a few sims further in Hathian and thus, they go there too, which leaves once again an empty fishtown sim. So my suggestion: let kids/teen rp only happen at Fishtown, develop the rp, make it bigger, make it better. THEN let them back in Hathian -- A solid basis to move on from.
Creativity -- It seems that the only kind of rp teens are after is dating. Noow, we don't need a kid avi for that, an adult avi serves fine. Creativity is what we need, but maybe.. it needs a push in the right direction - some guidance. Find some devoted rpers or even the ones in charge now if they have any time left. Place a suggestion / plot box and let people come up with ideas to rp big things out like a stabbing, robbery, fire taking place -- ideas that need guidance to make ideas realistic and involve other rp'ers.
Dresscode -- Im fully aware that this is a urban sim but you ARE sending a message out when you're wearing a mini mini skirt and a very short top that shows things that shouldn't be seen. Once again, if you feel the need to wear stuff like that --> Adult char.
Including new rp'ers -- Being friendly and helpful to new rpers OOC and IC. You weren't a fabulous rp'er when you first started and probably you were 'scared' to get involved. Im not saying everyone should be nice IC just to keep them to the sim. Just acknowledge those around you while you're RPing. it can be as simple as your character making brief eyecontact. That brief encounter will most likely let that new person know its cool to come in and try to get into the RP action. Helping someone ooc very likely won't kill you either.
That being said, I would like to add that In no way I'm saying that the people currently on kids rp aren't trying or working hard enough on this, 'cause I know they do. Just sharing my ideas and opionons and would love to hear your thoughts!
