So, 30 Nov. marks the start of a new year at CU, as I understand. Now that the topic of time's passing within our world has been brought to my attention, I've been trying to figure out my own approach to this and any changes I'll need to make to class structure, etc.
First of all, on the topic of classes themselves: Here's my take on it. If three months = one year in CU time, that would make a semester approximately 1.5 months, correct? Seems like a reasonable schedule, enough to keep the kids from getting bored with one topic (and keep the instructors sane as well).
Anyway. With students coming and going the way they do, I'm thinking of rotating out my course offerings, just to change things up a little here and there. I don't want my regulars to get restless, or the newbies to come in and be totally lost, so ... seems like a happy medium. As I mentioned before, in the midst of one of my "wtf am I doing here" rants, I do want to give the prof a go at his minor, literature. As far as I can tell, I'll just swap between variations of psych and lit as the semesters pass. For example, I started with an intro course in psych, will follow up with some concentration in lit (world, classic, modern, haven't decided), then back to psych--maybe some specialized course, like criminal or certain disorders ... we'll see.
Off the soapbox: do any of you guys have plans for the new year? Certain things you're looking forward to, something you want to see happen on campus? We've touched on a few things around the board already, but feel free to drop some classroom-specific commentary here if you want.
