Lesson #1 Can you Haiku?
Haiku
Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry. It often centers around nature.
Haiku poems don’t rhyme; they follow a pattern. The pattern for haiku is the
following:
Line 1: 5 syllables
Line 2: 7 syllables
Line 3: 5 syllables
How to write your haiku.
Brainstorm words that are about nature: For example: rain, clouds, soft breezes.
Choose the words that you like from this list.
Count the syllables (parts) of the words.
Put them together using the pattern.
In class you learned what a Haiku is. I also asked you to create one then create a short story originating from the Haiku poem.
Have your homework to me by next Monday or turn it in early for extra points.
