BACKGROUND: As the lead for the CU Campus Police, my chief goal for direction is to provide a streamlined and active presence within the main CU campus and add layers of involvement with the other staff positions, students, and visiting characters.

This will be achieved by focusing on campus/community interaction in the way of offering engagement events, such as: -

Coffee with a cop: Allowing the public and CU community to engage with CUPD Officers, ask questions, raise allegations, or otherwise snub the campus police in a public and woke fashion!

Campus Safety Seminars: CUPD Officers offering seminars to both students and staff alike, giving tips for safety, reminder of campus rules and policies, and even some tips to avoid adverse run ins and detection (how to get drunk and not get caught!) -

CU/HPD training: Partner with the HPD to encourage cross involvement with the greater CU community. Including joint threat assessments for the campus, emergency management training, or other generalized and structured cross activities. In regards to making new employees feeling included, I believe this is an extremely important first step, as with an automated recruitment system, first impressions are extremely important. I believe setting aside time to RP with new cadets, offering In Character welcome, training, or reaching out to allow for coordination and making myself available for questions, brain storming, etc. I believe it is also important to empower existing members or those who elevate within the ranks of the CUPD to engage with new employees and make them feel involved and immersed, via field training officers, and identifying IC engagement opportunities.

As for my character and their ability to fit in as management, Marcus comes from a law enforcement background and is a Hathian native. He understands the beast that is Hathian, as well as the secondary community that exists within the college campus. He is not above getting what he wants through blackmail, manipulation, or overt force, which translates into his expectations for the officers that comprise the CUPD. It is a campus police department and he believes that maintaining an active presence is important to dissuade major crime, however he also wants to promote a premier 'party atmosphere' within reason.

UNIQUE: The CUPD is already unique in it of itself, given that it is a sub-sect of the law enforcement side of CD. What allows for differentiation from the HPD is that while there is the maintained corrupt theme that is in-line with the community, the overt brutality of the HPD by design can take somewhat of a back seat and the focus of dealing with college life is focal. The CUPD provides a unique experience in which characters who are officers have an excuse to RP with everyone and anyone. Promoting this concept of the CUPD playing a supporting role to add flavor to the greater CU experience and storyline will provide something that is unique. Allowing CUPD officers to go down various paths, perhaps they are HPD washouts, former college students, hapless perverts who want to exert authority over coeds. This, coupled with specialized and campus law enforcement specific events will help make this group stand out, especially from their HPD big brother

EXPERIENCE:As a person, I am easy going, self motivated, and am capable of working with a wide variety of people on an OOC level. I have been a member of CD, as well as other roleplaying communities, both as a member and in group leadership roles. I understand the core concept of group leadership and roleplay, believing that both are tied into the fact that as a leader, my primary goal is allowing for and assisting with character growth, and development. I believe promoting an atmosphere that allows for open OOC communication, not only from group members, but remaining receptive to the greater community, other leads, and staff all plays into being a successful lead. I also believe heavily in collaboration, a group cannot live within a silo, especially not in a diverse and large community, such as CD.

Finally, I believe that groups like CUPD, or other municipal type entities should be focused on not only developing the character growth of members, but should heavily put a focus on supporting the advancement of storylines throughout their community. PD, EMS, Healthcare roles all play a unique role in the growth of others and keeping that mindset at the forefront is important when developing and fostering group growth.

IDEAS:The CUPD provides a unique opportunity that through sheer active presence, they serve as an engagement point for new players. There is very little IC justification needed for an officer to approach anyone on campus, especially new players. This can be replicated across the board with new players who sign up for the business as well, as it is the easiest way to mitigate a barrier to entry on both fronts. Encouraging CUPD players to roam and make random contacts with new players to immerse them into campus life will be a point of encouragement. Specifically to new players who join the business, actively monitoring new hires, sending out notices to encourage existing members to reach out, and provide not only myself as an IC point of contact and availability, but helping bridge any gaps in communication that may exist upon hire.

OTHER:Hold a CUPD open house for staff and students (HPD and the public welcome as well). Allow for a meet and greet, pass out safety information for the campus, and allow for open and active community engagement. Everyone who attends gets a rape whistle!
