Basic Applications
Unlike the "Crack Den Roleplay" group, where anyone is allowed to join, the "University Roleplay" group will require a standard application for an invitation. In the OOC area, there will be one application board to sign up for becoming an official roleplayer. Once you've been accepted into the University Roleplay group, you can differentiate into specific roles the following way:
STUDENT BODY
Here's where the application process has a university admissions feel to it ... there are two ways to attain a student role. 1) You pay tuition (real $L), 2) Go through "financial aid" ...
When you've received your CU Roleplayer tag, you should proceed to the Administration building on campus. In that building, you will find two main officers: Bursar's (tuition payment) or Financial Aid Office.
Bursar's Office - You will find a cash register in the office (it will be clearly marked). With your official CU roleplayer tag activated, you should pay the register XXX amount of Lindens (we will figure this number out) and you should immediately receive a group invite (it's an automated system).
Financial Aid Office - Students who can't afford the tuition payment can go through this office. You will drop in for 'financial advising' which would basically be an IC interview as to why you need the money (need to have a back story ready). Should an adviser not be present at the time the player comes into the office, we'll have a board you can click on and launch a web form which would have the similar questions the adviser would ask ... when advisers become available, they'll process the forms then and you should get your invite within 24 hours. Furthermore, all forms will have a "application status" option.
BeBe and I don't believe in having to pay to play on our sims. The tuition payment option above would be considered a donation and may come with an extra perk or something ... however, this free alternative is meant to spark more roleplay and incorporate the need for counselors/advisers.
FACULTY
This group will have a wide variety of roles ... teachers, tutors, janitorial, counselors, security, etc. etc. After you receive an invite into the group, you'd have to find the appropriate heads and offices in-world to secure an appointment/interview. For now, we'll probably have web-based forms that people can click on and apply for a particular role till the community grows and we identify leads to take over particular departments.
In summary, we're going to be relying heavily on the new application system which simply improves turnaround times for apps by up 85% (as compared to the old Den app system) and allows us to maintain strict quality control over the roleplayers who are admitted into the group.
