If you’re at Columtreal, you slept through all those boring classes about old white guys with giant white wigs and wood teeth and quill pens who battled and kept meeting in Philadelphia and writing stuff and blah blah blah and somehow gave us our freedom. This class will add some blood to the veins. Those men wanted power for many reasons, including the ability to get laid. We’ll discuss what we know and what we don’t know about the sex lives of the American Revolutionaries.You’ll hear about the scarred one-legged man who had his pick of the babes of France, and an old codger who got tips from a teen-age girl on “how to get inside a girl’s head.” And who doesn’t want to do that?

We’ll also talk about how historians have been making up stories about the romantic lives of these people ever since the nation was born and what that says about historians and us. Warning: if you just want to believe any first thing that any historian tells you, you’re going to find this class unsettling. Some students will be asked if they’d like to read some text as if they were one of the historic figures, I’ll supply the text of course, it’s just meant to give a chance for students to pretend they’re one of the characters. . ~ Visiting guest lecturer Perry Pelham

((unlike the journalism class, which will mostly be students either practicing or talking about journalism, this history class will be a little more friendly to people who are double rezzed or zoned out or just want a bit of a break from intense rp. You can just sit and enjoy the lurid history. But obviously interaction will be welcome and encouraged)))
