If you’re at Columtreal, you slept through all those boring classes about old white men with giant white wigs and wood teeth and quill pens who battled and kept meeting in Philadelphia and writing stuff and blah blah blah and somehow gave us our freedom. This class will add some blood to the veins. Those men wanted power for many reasons, including the ability to spread cheeks, legs and lips and have some fun. We’ll discuss what we know and what we don’t know about the sex lives of the American Revolutionaries. We’ll also talk about how historians have been making up stories about the romantic lives of these people ever since the nation was born and what that says about historians and us. Warning: if you just want to believe any first thing that any historian tells you, you’re going to find this class unsettling. Prerequisites: US History 100 and 101 though other students can audit the class. Some students will be asked to read parts of various historical figures. That’s not a euphemism, it’s just reading parts. ~ Visiting guest lecturer Perry Pelham
((can we have a class on the weekend? Since Perry is somewhat insane http://thecrackden.com/discuss/topic/perry-pelham/ he could just wander into a classroom and start talking. Also, if this is too close to the party, someone tell me, perfectly happy to change time))
