/me sits down in his cubicle and pulls up the computer. As it boots he grumbles to himself about forgetting to get his damn coffee this morning and shakes his head thinking he’d go and get it at lunch. Looking up he watched the slow and steady drip from the ceiling of the office where that cute little civil engineer said she and her crew would be working given that the city was willing to pay to fix it. He sure hoped it would be the engineer…at least it would give him something to distract from work. Looking down again he typed in his login credentials, and then logged to the office systems. Within a few moments he ran through the current inmates in the HPD system to see if any were ready for parole. Noting down a couple of names he prepped some initial paperwork, but left it in folders off to the side of his desk so it could be filed later if necessary. This was a side of the law that he wasn’t as familiar with, but he figured it needed to be done. Someone had to keep tabs on the ex cons in town. With a chuckle to himself he thought there were probably more of those than could be counted at this point, but he could only do so much. Standing up and stretching he turned to the file cabinets behind him and shook his head seeing they were getting doused with water from the broken pipes. Pulling one of the drawers open, a waterfall of trapped fluid came cascading out, covering his boots and the bottoms of his jeans. “Fuck all…” he growled before looking IN the file drawer and seeing the soggy mess of years worth of Parole files. Leafing through them a bit he grumbled about someone needing to get this cleaned up before shoving the door closed again and turning back to his desk. Ruefully he looked down and growled “The day just gets better…”. Thankfully he’d waterproofed his boots, but the legs of his pants were soaked. Leaning over his desk he whipped out a quick note to the head of Civil Services about getting someone to pull all the files and find a place to dry them all out. Walking over tot he receptionist he smiled to her and said “Hey, see that the boss gets this…I don’t know that she is aware of the damage.” Looking down to his pants again he says “I’m gonna go get some coffee…if you need me buzz my cell, ok? I don’t expect anyone today, but you never know.” Giving her a wink he walks out of the office and heads down to the ‘Daily Grind’
