SUBJECT: Supervising Officers Roles & Responsibilities (Patrol Only)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Team,

Effectively immediately, there are new requirements of any officer who has achieved the rank of Corporal or higher. In an effort to meet the demands of our ever increasing force of rookie officers, and ensure our forces are adequately trained to meet the increasing policing needs of our city the following has been added to the Corporal, Sergeant, and Lieutenant job descriptions.

Effective April 2014 - All Corporals are to complete a minimum of 3 interactions (role-play scenes, either in the station or on a patrol) with rookies (different rookies) per month. Each interaction should be focused on helping a rookie get acquainted with the department. This can include teaching how to use some of the systems, introductions to other officers, teaching about key players in the criminal underworld, talking backstory of each other, and many more possibilities. This should not be a 10 minute "hello" "hi" "i'm so and so" "cool" "well i'm out of here" "bye" type scene. The purpose of this change is to help rookies get more comfortable within the department as well as develop a true chain of command for officers to follow. Interactions should be reported back to the Lieutenant via either in character scene or simply a notecard to confirm completion. Difficulties completing the above task should be discussed with the Lieutenant.

Also Effective April 2014 - All Sergeants and Lieutenants are to complete a minimum of 3 in character patrols with rookies (different rookies) per month. As an established member of the patrol chain of command, it is important that rookies know who the leadership team is within the HPD. This is a perfect opportunity to discuss the importance of the chain of command, as well as help assist rookies with any questions they may have. The Sergeants will be responsible for reporting back on rookie development to the Lieutenant each month.

This program replaces the previous HPD Rookie Mentor program, which we did not see much success with. It is designed to help identify strong HPD candidates and help everyone get comfortable in the department - but most importantly introduce the corruption system to new rookies to continue the HPD stigma of "largest gang in Hathian." Questions, concerns, comments - please direct them to Lieutenant Hartigan (via IM inworld).

Thank You,

Lt. Jack Hartigan
