If I’ve worded it as it being unrealistic, I’ve worded it wrong. Cause yes, firearms are used excessively RL as well…However RL gunplay and RP gunplay differ, in that with the latter, we’re (hopefully) looking for a scene that is enjoyable for both sides, not just for the one with the firearm.

I am however very certain that I’ve also pointed…[Read more]

*nods* Think most of us are trying to make the story in CD as realistic as we can make it, but like said, we can’t forget the enjoyment of roleplay of other people in the process, and that’s exactly why I made this topic, because I felt that, specifically “Easy win” type armed citizens were ruining the fun for a lot of people… Create awareness…[Read more]

Don’t mind the idea of getting rid of firearms. Also don’t mind continuing with firearms(granted people use them fair). Though I don’t feel if firearms would be banned, cops should have them. Simply because of it giving too much of an edge. Think I’d be more open to cops being the only ones having tazers for example.

While I can agree with using every tool at hand, from a realism perspective, like haleycali pointed out, there is a system in place to create an artificial balance, which is, in my eyes, needed to keep things fun for everyone.

Not to mention the system also helps those around sim that aren’t criminals. To use the knife example again, it gives the…[Read more]

    @lyssandra69,

Of course it’s logical for a cop to draw when there’s a report of a firearm, a criminal that’s known to carry, clear danger for those around or the cop themselves that a taser won’t solve or when a gunshot was heard (for example when Roman called in where Mai could be found)

Plenty of videos online of robberies that don’t involve a firearm. Not all are succesful, of course, but that’s just a part of it. And exactly what I’m trying to get at here. I’ve robbed a store at knife point on Mai in the past. Saying you -need- a firearm to rob someone/something is just complete nonsense. In particular when the person is as…[Read more]

I’ve had my gun tag for about 5/6 years now (guestimating).I do use firearms from time to time, however, as stated, mostly as a last resort, or in the cases where it wouldn’t be, I first ask permission in IM. For example, would it make sense for Mai to use the gun, yes, but is it sim rule fitting, no.

That said, I was not saying every armed tag…[Read more]

I’m afraid I have to disagree with it being dependant on a character or a current story. If that were the case, the guide needs updating:

    quote from guide

Remember, the use of your firearm should always be a LAST resort!”

So, not at the first sign of danger/aggression, not when robbing someone/a store, not when you are with multiple people…[Read more]

New or returning players without tags are indeed what got me thinking. As more then one mentioned your same feelings.

And sure, while technically working with knowledge someone wouldn’t have, i.e. metagaming. I can see the reluctance in starting something, or wanting to build up, if you know you’ll get shot a lot of times before you’re even on…[Read more]

So, I’ve not been very active on the forums in general in the years I’ve been on sim, and this post is most likely going to be a bit ramble-y.

A thing I’ve been noticing is that the idea of firearms being a last resort seems to be a bit out the window. Most people I’ve seen having an armed tag will almost always wear that tag (Myself included in…[Read more]

I’ve been reading trough a bit and while I do agree with people speaking about not wanting similar groups around to some degree…Why not? We’ve had similar gangs before, which made for a volatile mix of alliances and wars, as they fought over the same resources and/or turf.

Not to mention the thing with factions, they have people in them. To…[Read more]

While I do agree that the current system in-place generally doesn’t generate much rp and/or is very engaging (the staring at the wall for days because of afk inmates and not a lot of HPD going down to the cells). I don’t think expanding the jail will work, because of those same aforementioned problems.

The privately owned lock-up might be an idea…[Read more]

For anyone else having the same question after reading: “possibly giving their identity as an Omophage away which means the other members will turn on them for ‘Treason’.”.

This is meant as the member basically ratting out vital information about other members and hideouts and such. Not simply about being a member.

Added strength trough drug use. While I know some drugs can indeed cause this to some extend, how much strength gain are we talking?

Also, the part of being ganged up on for “treason”. How are you planning to keep, well, everyone from knowing what the faction is into and thus from being eaten from the inside out, while still getting the…[Read more]

Not going into specifics, but did want to point out that just ignoring isn’t always an option. I’ve had people start rumors about me. Not contacting me about it. In situations like this I will contact staff, because getting a reputation for something I didn’t do, yeah, no…

After reading trough the proposal and the responses to questions. I’m still not quite clear how the gang would respond in a fight. In particular the part of backup I’m slightly worried about. Do you mean every fight a gang member will call in for friends to help out?

Also the flaw described. Isn’t that something every gang and every criminal in…[Read more]
