When an idea is presented by someone, it's generally done with the intention of making everyone's roleplay experience more immersive or to provide new roleplay opportunities. The discussion that takes place should involve the potential benefits and issues present in the idea, as well as the feasibility of it's implementation and how well it fits with the environment. During that discussion, the inclusion of hyperbole and derision (veiled or blatant) does not add to the discussion and instead may breed contempt.

Clearly not all ideas have merit, and not all ideas that do have merit can or should be implemented. Improperly responding to ideas with issues will discourage people from suggesting anything, and that would damage people's interest in investing time and effort in the sim. Discouragement of that sort can lead to people not putting themselves forward for fear of being shot down, when even without their idea they may have added interesting and dynamic roleplay opportunities. The Prison Pen Pal program and prom are examples of something that provided roleplay opportunities many people wouldn't have had otherwise, and they likely wouldn't have happened if Jessirembrandt hadn't felt that her idea would be taken seriously by the people of CD.

I hope that this post brings some benefit to the people of CD. I'm certainly open for discussion in this thread about anything mentioned above.
