TYPE: Official Business
SLURL: Hathian (Berthier Street)
BACKGROUND: There would be two faces to the business. On the surface, I'd like to turn the Clam into a community hub; a place where locals gather to read the news, or catch up on the latest gossip. Kids can come to get their sugar fix or purchase toys to play with. The store itself could have a set of nets and hockey/ball sets for them to borrow to play out front. Some other features I'd like to add are a quick eats station serving cheap warm food like hot dogs, empanadas, pan tostada (Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches). I would try to ICly meet up with new employees, give them IC challenges or tasks related to the store. Things like handing out coupons or meeting with other business leads. I'd also encourage them to suggest their own ideas and together work on making them happen. Acacius has several years experience working as a financial advisor to an international bank. He knows how to lead people and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. Some regular events would be: monthly sales, 2 for 1 deals, senior discount Sundays to name a few.
UNIQUE: Just adding to what I already wrote above, CD is missing a decent grocery store so the store would also have a green grocer side selling fresh fruits and veggies. Then to extend to pet owners, sell petfood and treats. Still along the green side, the place could be a drop off for cans and beer bottles to be recycled in exchange for cash. I would also like to collaborate with other businesses. For example, Asia and I discussed cross promotional with the Bakery, offering donuts, maybe having them provide beans for morning coffee. On the darker side of things, the Clam can be involved in illegal imports through products hidden in food, or regular household goods. The main part would be job opportunities and money lending for illegal immigrants, drug addicts, people down on their luck eventually leading to human trafficking when they can't pay up.
EXPERIENCE: I have over 10 years RP experience in SL. During that time, I've acted as OOC security, event coordinator and RP instructor at a sim which consistently had 20+ people present at any given time. I then became involved in a fantasy sim where I ran a race faction, and acted as a storyteller, working with other admins to weave sim wide events and story lines. I enjoy meeting and working with people and have held leadership positions over the years IRL too. I do my best to be fair when resolving issues and challenges by listening to people's opinions and varying perspectives.
IDEAS: If its a player signing up to work at the Clam, and I'm available during their RP times, I would reach out to them ICly, give them reasonable tasks and challenges in the store to involve them in the store RP. For example, one task could be to ask customers to complete in IC survey with their opinion on what the best brand of canned chicken soup is for example. It's a simple way to get them out and RPing with strangers. If I cannot be there during their RP time, I hope to have managers who can also engage while I'm offline. A way to engage new players is through various events, (some ideas discussed above) or approaching them in the streets with store fliers filled with coupons. Another idea is to seek out potential employees, newly arriving residents at the bus stop even.
OTHER: Given its central location in town, I would hold a bbq street party/block party offering free food. There would also be games for the kids and some live entertainment. Gift cards could be won through the purchase of raffle tickets and perhaps could collaborate with the other businesses in the area to make the opening even larger.
