AnonymoussaidJimmy "Drop" Teardrop was born on August 9, 1958, in South Philadelphia and grew up in the same South Street area where he would spend most of his young adult life. A lackadaisical student, Jimmy graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Misery elementary school and dropped out of South Catholic High School in the ninth grade. Between age 17 and 25, Jimmy was arrested thirty-two times on an array of charges: receiving stolen goods, possession of an unlicensed handgun, auto theft, arson and bookmaking. Most were dismissed or resolved by fines. His only jail sentence in that period was 60 days for a gambling conviction. When arrested in his early 20's, he listed his occupation as a plumber. But as a short wiry, and strong youth with quick fists, he was better known as a prize fighter. Jimmy, from age 16 to 19, fought as a lightweight in clubs around town, winning 21 of 25 light and light-heavyweight bouts by knockout, and earning him the nickname "Drop" for his ability to drop his opponents. Club boxers in those days fought four and six-round contests in neighborhood arenas, usually getting a percentage of the tickets they themselves sold. One of Jimmy's managers was a South Street neighbor, Thomas (Tommy Rich) Ricciardi, who later became the boss of the Grillo crime family. This relationship led to employment opportunities in many criminal enterprises, the fencing of stolen goods, shakedowns of business', beatings, bank robberies, drug dealing, stock fraud, loan-sharking, and — most notably — cleanup duty at the gory and storied social club murders of three Boccelli capos on May 5, 1981, which led to his arrest and eventual conviction in 1985 as an accomplice to first degree murder Drop always resisted being "made" into the Grillo Family, prefering to stay an independant Mob associate. His 23 year bid in federal prisons left him almost a broken man, and upon his release, he decided not to return to his old stomping grounds. He'd heard about Hathian from a former cellmate, and decided it might be a good place to disappear into. He spent the first few months in Hathian drunk off his ass every day, existing by panhandling and odd jobs. Preferring to exist day by day, he resisted what he knew…a life of crime…for as long as he could. Then came the Rogues, and he found a new family. He began to clean himself up, working odd jobs at the TT, and slowly getting himself back into the shape he was in prison, lean, mean and fast once again. It was here that a friend and confidant, Tre Marjeta, became a lover. Drop had promised himself during his prison bid that if he ever got out, he'd make love to as many women as he could, to make up for the countless nights he dreamt of trim...but something about this lovely litle red-head comepletey frazzled his brain. He impregnated her in a fit of lust, then they decided to become a couple, to raise the twins, Junior Darkfold and Crystal Rugani, with a mommy and daddy. Then, during a trip out of town for the holidays, Tre was attacked by Parnell Urquart and Jena Lanzius. Slashed badly, and by a fellow Rogue (Jena) who Drop considered a friend, Drop returned his Rogue arm band to Lissa Strom, turning old friends into bitter enemies. Stung by what he saw as a betrayal, he joined the Reavers, and soon after, oficially asked Tre to marry him. Now he lives with a family, his wife, the twins, Tre's sisters Dizzy and Ash, Lexii Walcott and her daughter Naomi Skytower, and a Rottweiler named Ruger. He's the Assistant Manager at the Titty Twister, as well as an Instructer at Columtreal University, using a Masters in Fine Arts degree he obtained through a mail order diploma mill in prison. Drop is a workout fanatic, training for an hour in the morning, and an hour at night, 6 days a week (hey, even God needed a day of rest) 52 weeks a year. He’s kept this routine up since he was a kid learning the ropes, and was even more fanatical about it in prison. Except for a time when he first reached Hathian, and was drunk off his ass every day for about 3 months, he has followed this regimen. Age has slowed him down, but you can hardly tell, and at 50, he’s more fit than most guys in their 30’s. Drops workouts include running, shadow-boxing, plyometrics, and sparring (when he can find a partner, which is why he’s training Tre). He’s uncomprising in his workouts, pushing himself and anyone training with him to the limit. Drop keeps up his switchblade, broken bottle, and shooting skills up with rigorous training, as many a would-be attacker has found out to their dismay. |
