As someone that has worked on both sides of the legal aspect of RP (Cop/lawyer) I feel this poking at the Civil Service group needs to be answered.

-First off: As many are already aware of, the Civil Service group is undergoing a massive rework in order to make it better useable to the RP on the sim as a whole. There are ideas that are being…[Read more]

Despite no longer being a cop, this is something that I have wanted to see in CD for a long time.

I can say that when I was a cop, one of the hardest things to RP was down time. It was exteremly hard to go out to a bar or even the Grind or the Bakery without being attacked, assaulted or harrassed for what they do for a living or for some slight…[Read more]

I don’t know why lately the business have become the place to toss out accusations at other groups when it has little do with the OP and what we are here for. These proposals aren’t meant for ass kissing or for ass kicking. They’re meant to read over something that might be able to add new levels of RP for the sim and giving the business owners…[Read more]

Yes, in the United States they are a branch of the military, Emily, lol. We’ve got Army (National Gaurd), Navy, Marine, Airforce, and then Coast Guard. The National Gaurd and the Coast Gaurd as states. They gaurd and are mainly a localized form of military, seeing to our interenal issues first and foremost.

That is why they respond to such things…[Read more]

I’m not sure what Peri’s having RPed an EMS lead had to do with any of this. Whether understaffed or not, often times calls go unanswered because of a timezone issues, but I’m not sure how the idea of a Coast Gaurd (whose only power is at sea) is going to help the issues with the FDH if it is a matter of being understaffed. That was my point. A…[Read more]

I don’t understand where the idea of  “Civilian Coast Gaurd” is coming into play. In the United States, the Coast Guard is one of the five branches of the military, working with Homeland security. There is no “lessening the military aspect”. It /is/ the miliatry. There is no other way around this. They respond to emergencies at sea and uphold…[Read more]

I must say this is an idea that I am looking forward to. My alt has already had contact with one of the people involved and from it has started what has proven (and will prove to be) a very interesting and engaging role play. As such I am all for the idea of this group continuing.

I also find that it is a good idea to have many different aspects…[Read more]

No one is saying that you need to play an “evil” character. Innocents are always accepted around the town. The idea is that the town is painted in shades of greys instead black or white, good or evil.

For example, I would not consider my character to be an “evil” person. However she has done many a sketchy thing when it was called for, when it…[Read more]

Cookie Zero replied to the topic RP and judging. in the forum Roleplay Discussion 4 months ago

Judging is sadly a facet of the human condition. None of us are innocent of judging another person and/or a persons choices. And I bet if I put money down on everyone in this thread have at some point judged another player and their ‘realism’ in roleplay, I could retire early.

Recent forum posts alone are proof of the idea that /none/ of us are…[Read more]

This is where it starts to become a gray area of what you’re willing to RP more so than someone hiding behind a limit, to be honest. And there’s nothing wrong with that. I fully agree that if a person continues to taunt and ridicule or such ICly but then refuses to take any hits in reaction, or tries to control the reaction, it can become…[Read more]

That’s what I meant. If they push the idea and force it to be a killing shot so that you CAN’T take it without breaking a limit, THAT is hiding behind a death limit.

I understand what you’re saying and nothing I’m saying is directed at you directly. Its a general statement because you are not the first person to have this reaction to this…[Read more]

I am not going back and forth, I’m saying to read the scene and the reaction and to report it if it is a blanat disregard of the rules. To not view a scene through a one demensional idea and assume that that is the way it should happen. People should react to a gun in their face of course, but they shouldn’t have to react the way /you/…[Read more]

It seems to me far too many people are equating gun use with death. Guns=/=Death Limit Breech. The very idea that if a gun comes into play it’s to kill someone is a huge problem in and of its self. I am certainly /not/ against gun use in a scene or in role play if it adds to the scene and to the story. If it creates rather then halts and detracts.…[Read more]

I liked the topic here, a good discussion of a common issue and the ways to see it from both sides and I’d rather hate to see it become an issue of calling out a specific person (or persons) for their behavior. We should all be capable of getting a point or an idea across with out naming names. Doing something like that will cause what was a good…[Read more]

This is a pretty good case of people using a limit to react like the tough guy.  But again, it leads to the idea that people need to understand that there is also a point where they might push too far. That they will go to extremes to force a reaction from another character. There is just as much fault on both sides in a lot of cases.

    If a…[Read more]
