Another thing i always caution people about-especially with things such as a neo-nazi group-between us roleplayers, we all know that IC is not OOC, what we do in roleplay is a fantasy, and how we portray our characters is not necessary how we are in RL, what our characters think and do is not necessary how we are like in RL.

    HOWEVER, not every…[Read more]

The thing about newcommers – and rp’ers in general even – is that a lotta ppl rp their characters by imagining what they themselves would do in a similar situation. Not realizing that the situations that they themselves are far from what one might face in CD. If their RL person would face a similar situation, they would not be facing it in an…[Read more]

TBH-when it comes to tags. As much as they were a motivator for me even earlier on -really- all that comes with it is a bit of bragging right thats all. And to make matters worst -not to encourage anyone to do it tho- anyone can just go into a group they control and make themselves a tag if they’d like.

Yes, the feeling is nice (for a few…[Read more]

Not too sure where my choice of words went wrong but fine.

Definitely have to agree though with what Espi said about players needing to LET GO a bit and chill out. Having participated in a couple of “forced” roleplay sims where you really dont have much of a choice but to go along if someone attacks you etc and you have even less of a choice if…[Read more]

I think another option could always be to appoint leaders to their positions for only a certain length of time, and once their term is over the job is opened, and anyone can submit a proposal for the position (including the current lead-who can always reapply) to be evaluated equally like any other proposal for a group lead job. That way-good…[Read more]

I’m also totally all for more accountability on the parts of group leads.

However, I’d also like to point out that while some arent doing their job right or seem very well qualified, others, like my friend Rog for example, are doing a stellar job as well, and (1) it would be unfair for them to have to step down because their counterparts arent…[Read more]

Perhaps I should rephrase what I am saying.

Personally, I do post lengths to fit the RP too. Shorter posts when there is less to write about and longer ones when I have lots to say.

I’m not saying that post length itself is an indicator for anything -but- what I am trying to say is that I’ve noticed that compared to Summer of 2012, we now have…[Read more]

As per the actual costs of sims-I’m not a sim owner myself so thats not a topic im best versed in. Just that the general trend with things is that as technology gets better and better, things get cheaper and more accessible over time. And I have been told many times and even seen it in my own observations that today’s RP community is far more…[Read more]

I think another thing is-these days there are far more sims and a lot more division amongst the rp population.

Back in the day, there were only a few RP sims and sims were not as easy to obtain as they are today. Today-thanks to technology-every time someone or more commonly a group of people dont agree with what the rest are doing or what…[Read more]

This isnt the story just in CD-this is true for RP in general.

One thing for sure-after the advent of mesh and pararp (ironically many of us -myself included- are big pararp’ers)-people have increasingly become more and more competitive. Back in the day-when avi’s and builds look like trash and pararp was only a beginning concept(or if you go…[Read more]

LOL this has been talked about for almost as long as I’ve been here. I -almost- suggested this once even myself.

I personally completely endorse this idea. Not only do other sim’s do it and it would make rp more realistic, it would also solve certain other issues.

For example-when i first saw this suggested-it was because too many people were…[Read more]

And speaking of the cops-reminds me of how the very first time my character (already a citizen most likely) did something major my first friday night here I quickly (OOCly and due to my paranoid nature as a person) became concerned about any possible consequences for me-wait, you sure they said when my char goes to jail its all gonna be an IC…[Read more]

LOL lucky you. but then that means you did have noob moments too, just not here and now in CD. i mean, im sure you werent born knowing rp right, like, you had to have learned somewhere, right?

totally agreed. started to roleplay originally b/c i was told i could pretend to be a cop if i did so (always liked police work-on my way to serving with the US Air Force Security Forces (Military Police) ). when i got fired from the DEPD (a mixed blessing) I went to the DEFD to keep it realistic b/c i read somewhere that a lotta officers when…[Read more]

agreed-quite a fun thread to read alright. had some very interesting laughs at how silly we all were back in our noob days.

hopefully though, now that they got that “How to Initiate RP Guide” written and published, we will hear less stories in the future about noobs standing around too shy to get themselves into anything.

    esmeralda-i think you…[Read more]
