Columtreal University Dean, Jack Inkpen sent out an IC notice in-world today that informed CU Students the following:
A campus-wide e-mail goes to all students: "We are pleased to introduce two new programs between CU and Seaside. CU students can get college credit for volunteering to teach classes at Seaside, and/or for being a mentor to a child in a new "Big brother/Big sister" program that is being run in cooperation with Hathian's Civil Services. Please contact fellow student, Dani (DanielleMattelle Resident) for more info. Dani is a Junior who is majoring to become a social worker & she also directs these projects."
Dani (DanielleMattelle Resident) was working for the past month or so with the previous Principal of Seaside, as well as several of the CD Youth players and CU Dean Jack to get some of these ideas off the ground. As of this weekend, we have progressed the RP to the point that we can now officially offer these opportunities to CU students.
Diamond (Yvonne Spanton) is the social worker at Civil Services who will be responsible for running background checks on any CU volunteers who want to be a Big Brother or Big Sister to a CD Youth character, and Dani will be the one to sign-up the kids for the program, either when she meets with them at Seaside, or when the children's parents/guardians contact her to get their kids enrolled in the program. Then Dani and Diamond can work together to match up the kids with the CU Students.
In both the cases of the classes taught to the kids and the visits between kids and Big Brother/Big Sister mentors, there will be permission to take the kids on field trips and outings. We hope this will expand and diversify the role-play for the CD Youth characters a lot more.
Since there isn't currently any active CD character playing the Principal at Seaside, Dani, Diamond, and Jack had a long talk with the NPC Principal who is temporarily managing the school and the NPC Principal of Seaside fully supports these plans!
I'm posting this thread to update people on some new things that are going to be happening at Seaside as well as to get feedback or suggestions for this plot which has just started.
