Classes... really?

Postby aden on Wed Mar 10, 2010 6:20 pm

Like is there ever gonna be high school classes? I know there's a schedule but... seriously...

Ive been here as a teen for a week. Been to ALL eight classes.... But no teachers have ever shown up. NONE! Im kinda lost on the fact of why we even have the school if no teachers are gonna show up. Its seems like a waste really. We spend L on creating these teens etc etc. Spend our time fleshing out stories. Then end up never having classes. Never seeing teachers unless there in Hathian playing with their tags on.

I mean if this is the case we should just drop the school RP and convert all the school tags to teens or troubled teens. Cause thats what its amounting to anyways right? Were just teens with nothing else better to do then run around hathian with our high school tags on. Same with the schedule really... I mean why even bother to post your classes if your not gonna come. You end making us drop what were doing to get to school for nothing. Just a waste of time.

Sure it may not have always been like this right.... But this is what it is now.

It's frustrating, I'll give you that. To have teachers take time slots and not make them, week after week after week. But..if Rabid or I are not told about it, there's seriously not much we can do about it. I've been scarce this week, and that's personal, had a r/l family crisis I had to deal with and Rabid is doing his best to handle things alone. Just let me know what classes are being skipped by what teachers, I really can either try to fix this or get more teachers.

The classes are meant to be a background to the RP as it is, but yes, some class time is needed. Aurah and Jake are really good about holding their classes, an adjustment may needed to be taken. I'm sorry ,but I"ve kinda been selfish with Rabid's time this week too, just wanting some quiet time to deal with this.

Aw hell naw tre. I truly didnt mean you or rabid yeah. Yall rock it. I know that. You gotta do what you gotta do babe. No worries on yall right. I have no concerns when it comes to you guys and Im sorry if you thought I meant yall! No its not like that. But Im just saying basically what you said. Why have the schedule if its not going to be filled yanno. Instead just like... whenever teachers get time to play send out a notice like 30 mins a head of time so people have a chance to wrap up what they are doing and haul arse to class! :)) It makes more sense if the teachers dont have the time for now. Yanno?

Not sure if it's allowed or not, but I had a high school student attend my Sociology 101 class at CU. Not trying to take away from the RP at the high school, mind you, but just throwing the idea out there for anyone who might want to do both? Like I said, not sure if it's even allowed, but consider me the messenger. Sort of. Don't shoot.

Well I hear what your saying and I agree but like with my class which i canceled tonight because basically after the day ive had at work i couldn't give it justice and i wasn't sure that i could make it in time anyhow. However because of the projects that the students will be presenting i need to have a slot. I might be actually taking more than one spot in the week during presentations because basically students will be running that class and the work will be minimal to me. Still yes i think impromptu classes are a great idea. I also would love to see teachers design more project based classes for all levels if its possible. That way students could have a reason to do rp at the school without being in the classes. Yes i think you could teach your sociology class here at the high school and i think that's an awesome idea. I know that the course material would probably be a little advanced for most high school students but there's room for suspended disbelief too when its not too wak. I know one of my personal favorite classes is debate and discourse and I see us debating at a higher level than many inner city students might be at but i still believe its fun role-play. Right now the bigest challenge we have is to keep up the momentum. I also think we could use teachers and staff just to announce in notices "HEY in thirty minutes I'm going to be monitoring recess or its taco lunch at the cafeteria" Just lets keep up the positive momentum and deal with these issues as they come up. Thanks for everyone's support.

Well, not at the high school, but at the university. IC/realistically, it might be a little advanced, yeah, but just an idea :-).

Yeah rabid... like always I understand RL and Work come first no doubt. Sorry if I didn't make that clear. But yeah.. A debate class would be totally awesome. And I know it sounds silly. But even the eff'n short little school lunch is an awesome idea. It would just add that much more to the RP at the school. Like you said even if its not a class in the typical sense but things like study hours or student projects... that makes all the difference. IMO it gives us more to do then just sit around the school and hang out behind the bleachers. But yeah you really had some great ideas for the school I hope to see them come around! And I cant speak for anyone but myself. I realize that as well but to me at least that's the purpose of this account yeah. To get involved in the SeaSide RP and play it out building story after story around the school as I grow up in Hathian.

Ohhh, I don't know about in the University right now we need to build the momentum in the high school. However if you felt like taking the same lessons from your college class to high school once in a while i am sure we would have some real fun roleplays.

With our HS..I've learned, it's going to take strong character's to teach there. The HS students have so far literally frightened off 4 teachers. Something to think about. You want teachers ya kinda have to work at keeping them too. Talking about how boring they constantly are and getting up in the middle or fifteen mins into class and just walking out is kinda harsh. Help make the RP. This isn't about actually learning subjects, it's about creating RP storylines.

I know once before I went to a class and the teacher was a bit harsh. And I was thinking OMG. A teacher in real life wouldn't treat his students like that. I mean, I know it's CD and there are lots of unsavory poeple that live there and they all need jobs, but man. That incident alone made me drop his class.
