Seaside school & Youth Center
TYPE: Official Business
SLURL: Vodou, Hathian Highway
BACKGROUND: I am submitting this request for the Lead role/Principal of Seaside Youth Centre/School. I have been rping in a role that has evolved to this, through the previous principal's rein, Ms Grace/2019 . This has been a enjoyable role as it blends well icly-ooc with Jason's other job of Social worker, bridging well. we have started a series of summer 'day camps' offering rp for mentors in business owners to come host a hour of one to show case skills/interest with youth at school. Field trips and apprenticeships/work experience for older youth. We have 4 overnight trips planned, utilizing my land on Rougarou. We have introduced 2 NPC 'Ida Thotso and Hugh Donit' as after hours/weekend on site supervisors. We have had youth players boarding at the youth centre icly as a transition housing, in their story. And have shared this with Chuck at Civil Services, he reposted to the group. Ive been hustling to reach out and engage as many and as diverse a group of players on the sim, the Lions and Berthier Street Bakery have been steady consistent patrons. And the summer Camp program so far has players to host - creative writing - theater arts and drama-cooking and baking - 1st aid - swimming lessons - introduction to diving, with a focus on it being as flexible as possible to let players from multiple time zones feel wanted and included in the Seaside experience.
UNIQUE: Seaside already does, as the sims only youth orientated business. I want to give some out side the class room rp opportunities for the youth players, and help them find and retain story lines they can evolve and age their characters up through, in Crack Den. Ive enjoyed meeting a lot of the existing business leads icly when Jason has been out trying to get work placements for his café file clients, and letting the folks in the city know the school is alive .
EXPERIENCE: I work with young people irl , have coached some beer league softball, I'm laid back for the most part, enjoy laughing at myself, and try to put the people I'm in a scene with ahead of my own story advancement for the most part. Finding players who enjoy an activity and asking them to share it with the group fills 2 needs and bridges players where they might not have on their own.
IDEAS: Finding out if they have goals and expectations for the character they play or story lines they are wanting to set up , then seeing if there are players I know I can point them towards to get that happening as quickly as I can , and let them know what actions I've been doing , towards that end. It never feels good when you think, some one has forgotten a request or offer of help. So I try to use twitter / discord in world platforms to accomplish that.
OTHER: With it being Summer now, I have talked with some and they said a BBQ and bon fire on the beach. We have several sim approved clubs/gangs/shops who have been rping with us at seaside (The Lions recently paid for a students cleft pallet surgery). The event would be a chance for the school to publicly express its gratitude to these generous supporters of the school and youth centre.
